Re: Front generator bearing screeching.....

As long as it's been since a rebuild, I would give it all a real good inspection. It may be time again. If you are not comfortable with rebuilding, Berts has some nice rebuilts.

Re: Curved or straight back trunk

With over 80 trunk manufacturers back in the day, it was obviously personal preference. I have straight back on my Sedan and my 29 roadster. I like the look better.

Re: Revising gear box

Werner,
The part you show is the real deal oil seal, made by Mitchell. It actually goes inside the bell housing, to keep the oil from leaking around the shifting rails.
It is easily installed with...

Re: Over Drive

I believe Mitchell also makes a 36% but it is overkill for most. I just put a 26 in my CCPU for a daily driver on 65 mph highways. The other advantage is to be able to split the other gears, making...

Re: Model "A" Merry Christmas

Not sure why it didn't work, it says PDF are limited to 9.4 mb. I'm sure it isn't bigger than that. The 800 x 600 size is the maximum width and height of a jpeg file.

Re: Model "A" Merry Christmas

You have to go into Manage attachments at the bottom. Most pictures have to be shrunk first, I believe it is 800 x 600 Max for a jpeg

Re: U Joint Housing

I use permatex gasket sealer on this. I put the gasket on both sides of the inner cup, and let it dry overnight, that way the gasket won't move. Then, put sealer on the back of the transmission and...

I have a block that was seeping, and after cleaning, could see it had been welded. I just cleaned it up and used JB Weld. Worked fine.

Re: Primer for YOM plates

Although this thread got hijacked to YOM plates, a comment on the primer. I used a filler primer when I restored my Colorado plate, and wished I hadn't. It built up too fast and was hard to sand down...

Re: fish scale instead of torque wrench

With this setup you need to deduct for the weight of the bar, and the scale itself. Loosen the apparatus at the threaded rod, and swing the scale upside down. This will give you the deduction amount.

Re: Pickup bed wood parts

Thank you for doing that! Interesting, mine are pretty close to the ones in the older thread drawing. But your narrower ones are over an inch wider!
Subrails measurements appear to be spot on.

Re: Your local club's best tours?

That has always been my favorite, those roads were made for the cars.

so they can be removed.
