Re: And the parts come rolling out . . .

In your picture, the more rounded side is showing. When you install it be sure it faces the steering wheel, as the shaper edge will hold better when it faces down to lock against the horn rod groove.

Re: Rare Very Early 28 Abell starter drive Conversation Piece

I found 3 NOS Abell pinions at Hershey about 12 years ago, so I made the rest of the parts to complete them. Someday I will use one on my 28, just to see if they are troublesome as reported.

Re: Hershey chatter

That same Corvette story went through our high school back in 1964. Also WWII Army Jeeps still in the crates for only $50.

Re: Gear Tooth Pitting

If Brent doesn't have one, then call Bert's. 800-321-1931
Save the old one to make a table lamp for an end table in your living room.
Your wife will love it, and it makes a good conversation piece.

Re: Replating Gear Shift Lever

I used a belt sander on my 2 levers before getting them nickel plated.
As Brent said, it's real easy to make them look wavy, so use lots of care.

Re: Model A as a mobile studio

I only watched a third and quit. I agree, it's total waste of band width.

Re: Model A Electrical Inquiry re: cut out

Sounds like you have an open inside the cutout. Either the diode is burned out, or has a bad connection. If it is a voltage regulator cutout, then the output voltage should be 7 volts or a hair more....

Re: Spark Plug Connectors

Ask before you order the parts.
I only use the correct bronze ones, as the brass is too soft and more likely to come out of place.

Re: generator not charging _ How come?

So, you are using a diode cutout with correct polarity, but the generator looses it's magnetism.
Who rebuilt the generator, and are the pole shoes tight to the body, and what is the air gap from...

Re: Asking for a favor

My clutch chattered bad, like a paint shaker when I first bought my car. Now it's smooth as an automatic after I installed a new clutch disc from a swap meet, good used pressure plate from a swap...

Re: 1929 Hood Latches won't reach

Sounds like the original problem for this is a sagging frame at the rear motor mount area.

Re: Hand riveting tool ?

I did hood corners with the hood installed by using the brake rivet tool from Bert's, Bratton's, or Snyder's, and it worked fine.
I use a drop of oil on the rivet tool to make the smoothest...

Re: 1931 model A performance

I like back roads and 40 to 45 for cruising around. If I want to go faster, then I'll add a 3.27 ratio ring and pinion, plus a 5.5 compression head.

Re: Transmission tower shifting forks

Did you remove the spring and plunger also?
Then remove one shaft, then remove the rest of the tower parts.

Re: Generator hot to touch

One second or 5 seconds is fine with the engine off, but don't leave the jumper wire on with the engine off, or the generator will try to motor and will overheat.

With the engine running, the...

Re: White crap in carb bowl - Pic

Does the gas pump send both crap gas and better gas through the same hose?
This will always give you some crap gas, as that was also my first thought for the white crap.

MMO is good stuff, and...

Re: Generator hot to touch

The other terminal is the one going to the generator output stud. Start the engine, then jump the 2 terminals together to see if you get output.

Disconnect the jumper before shutting down the...

Read the replies?
Heck, I don't even have time to read the question, so the answer is you cut the potatoes in half and plant them 4" deep. LOL

Re: Anti-Rattle Spring

The anti-rattlers push the front rods forward, and are mounted to the front side of the bracket.
The rears push the brake rods rearward, and are mounted on the rear side of the brackets.

Re: Fuse blows even when key off

Most likely it has a bad repro brake switch that grounds out. Disconnect both brake switch wires then connect an ohm meter from each terminal to ground and try the switch both off and on to see if...

Re: 3.27 ring and pinion, anyone using one ?

I put 3.27 gears and a 5.5 head in my friend's 31 pickup and it goes great.
I'm looking forward to putting 3.27 gears and 5.5 head in my Model A also.

Re: Short circuit issues. Where to start

If the horn is getting hot, then it's likely shorted to ground.
What does the ammeter read with the key off?

Re: Horn Rod replacement

Some horn cover screws are too long, or threaded in to far, and hit the brush holder, which can ground out the horn.

Re: Rear brake drum hub difference

The parking brake band spring on the lower bracket is in the wrong hole.
It should be in the outside hole, as the upper spring is.
