Wanted to give an update. I bought the heater door from Dan and got it installed last Saturday. Worked out very well.
Thanks all.

Re: Radiator muck ????

Could be too much grease going into the rear fitting of the water pump. It takes very little at that point. About a quarter pump or less.

Personally I would drain it, put in a gallon of Simple...

Re: Brake adjuster question

Very possibly.
My AA didn't have shoes on either side on the front when I got it.

Re: how to remove oil foam after a head gasket fix?

Remove the radiator cap and put a dial meat thermometer directly into the coolant. Cut a piece of cardboard to cover the front of the radiator. Fire it up and watch the coolant temperature. You can...

Re: Heater door placement in firewall for Otwell heater

Dan I don't think that the one you have on the swap section is an Otwell it sure looks like it would fit well.
I'm curious as to what others think.

Re: Heater door placement in firewall for Otwell heater

Thank you for the pictures JW. That is very different from what I have and what I am seeing in the vendor catalogs.

If anyone has one that they would be willing to sell I would be interested.

Re: Heater door placement in firewall for Otwell heater

The door that I have and the ones I see in the vendor catalogs are flat and wouldn't work well.
Anyone have pictures of an Otwell door and or pictures of one installed?

Heater door placement in firewall for Otwell heater

So I have an Otwell heater that I would like to install on my 29 AA. I put it on my truck today to see how it would line up with the firewall and it would require the hole to be cut on an area of the...

Re: cupped washer

If the ball on the wishbone doesn't show much wear you won't need the separately sold cupped washer.

Re: Otwell heater question

Joe mine doesn't have a hole in the intake area. Leaving it open along with the rear bypass I think would help with keeping it cooler in warm season driving.

I taped off the manifold ports today...

Re: Otwell heater question

Thanks Joe. Basically a bypass to help prevent hot air squeezing past the firewall valve.

Re: Overheating

Are you sure that it is actually overheating?
Use a meat thermometer placed directly in the coolant to measure the temperature. Knowing the temperature for sure will help with any diagnosis.

Curious as to the purpose of the small opening at the top rear of the manifold.

Re: Rust on Block Deck?

On the high compression head I just installed I used the "Best" brand composite gasket. Second time I've used it on high compression heads. Settles in quicker than the copper gaskets in my opinion....

Re: New clutch: Judder from hell

When you have the clutch disk out of the car check it carefully for a lump or thick spot. Had that happen to a friends car. Drove us crazy until we carefully measured the thickness and found the...

Re: Radiator Overflow Tube

I'm thinking that someone that kept their radiator overly full may have gotten frustrated with coolant pushing out the overflow tube. They pinched it shut to try to stop that from happening.

Re: Radiator Baffle

I agree that the antifreeze solution is probably not the cause of your overheating. From what I read in your post is looks as if you ran distilled water and WaterWetter for a year. That could be what...
