We have pack rats in the high desert. You would be amazed at what they can carry away. They use jumping cactus mixed with upholstery padding to make their nests that discourages digging thru the nest...

I believe Ron is on to something. Remove the cap and watch the rotation of the rotor.
The angle drive may change the rotation.

Your lathe looks like new, but I didn't know they were still produced.

Atlas made them for Sears with the flat ways and Logan had the contract for a few years.

Remove switch from fitting and screw into a air pressure regulator fitted with a pressure guage. With a multi meter...

That is what was taught in High School shop class in 1959. Seal gaskets only to the removable part. It does make life easier.

I use a cpap machine, with a long hose, turned up to 12 and a mask covering the nose and mouth. the higher air pressure leaks out around the mask, so a beard does not matter. Find a used one...

I would double the ceiling joists and would cover with one inch plywood. Great storage place for engines, and large pieces.

I replaced the carburetor on my H engine with a 7HA carb off ebay.
Then a rebuild kit. Now it runs great.
I think the rebuild kit cost more than the carburetor did.

I put a 292 in a 1950 car. Oil filter was where the steering gear is. Had to make a bipass plate. Also had to use a top shift adapter. This was in 1960. All poorboy, homemade stuff. Ran strong.
