I had a similar problem from a mile o matic 59 Edsel trans gave it a service and put the right amount of fluid that the workshop manual said I don't go off the dipstick as I found it not to be...

Gudgeon pin, pull one lead off at a time and see if the noise quietens to pinpoint which Gudgeon/ cylinder

I welded a piece of 1/4 rod on the head of a bolt and ground it to fit in the mount so it won't turn while tightening

I used a piece of 1/4 rubber fuel hose , sat in the groove nice an tightened up well no leak as yet and the car has been on the road for over 12 months now

Hi there
Can anyone inform me if a mid to late 60's cruisomatic will go behind a 332 which is in a 59 edsel replacing the mile o matic ? I'm not sure if they are the same bell housing bolt pattern ...
