Re: Valve Lash Esky. Cam

For the record I have set a cam with zero lash but that was on my harley and they determined that the cylinders would expand enough to give the valve adequate seat time. Due to the ball and socket...

Re: Shoebox Overdrive Governors

Yes, this looks to be correct. I put it in the vice and spin it with a drill motor and use an ohm meter to make sure it is working. You can take the top off to inspect the points.

The remote spin on oil filter should be accompanied by a full low system which should be done with the block bare.

Re: Massachusetts YOM plates?

You can use them in Mass but you must have a plate where the number is not being used for a different year. There are ways to find that out that all involve knowing a guy, at least to check out a...

Re: Shoebox Driving with Overdrive

You'll love the free wheeling when you discover not needing the clutch to shift gears. Also use emergency brake when parking and/or lock out the overdrive. It will roll in gear.

Yes, 51 steering shaft is different. With a little fabrication that can be remedied.

Speaking of announcements
All day Saturday: No vehicle traffic in the flea market area.
I can remember the aisles packed with people who could only get in one day.

Re: Some success on freeing up the valve on the 53!

You appear to lck some understanding about what a stuck valve is. Someone mentioned "stuck closed" which will not allow the motor to turn. Typically varnish builds up on the guides and causes the...

Re: dead cylinder on the 53 flathead V8

Did you try running it while pouring a little marvel mystery oil down the card? That is the first thing to try for stuck valves.
Also if you cannot find a shop to help you maybe you can get a...

Re: Need Advice on Removing Broken off Stud and Head

I think twisting the head will just turn the bolt in the hole. You appear to be stuck to the head. Twisting will be limited by any open valves. Careful not to bend one.

Re: Need Advice on Removing Broken off Stud and Head

Were you removing the bolts with a wrench or impact? If you broke to bolt with a wrench then you may have luck with the welded washer and an impact wrench on low. My guess is you have galvanic...

Re: BorgWarner R-10 Overdrive Rebuild

I have had a roller slip out where the input shaft meets the output shaft and jam up the works. Also make sure you have the forks engaged properly and you're not locked in two gears.

Re: OD governor at fault?

You can spin the governor with a drill motor to check it's operation. The lockout switch was 49-50 only and Ford called for removing it from the circuit if there was a problem with it. They did not...

Re: Viscosity VS Pressure

The higher pressure does not cause damage but it heats the oil and one of the functions of motor oil is to keep the bearing cool. If you have adequate pressure then your engine is getting...

Re: looking at a restored 36 ford coupe

That is a really nice car that the owner may very well have 38,000 into but like others said, the market is not there. You have some bartering points. If you could be sure of the quality of the...
