Re: Battery Tenders

Gee, another battery tender thread. Imagine that. Seems like I just responded yesterday....

Anyway here's my generic response-
"Any battery will go bad just sitting there...... hooked up or...

F-1 Right or Left spindle and a wheel hub

Going to mock up a front disc setup idea I have.

Looking for an 8C-1104-A hub
And either a right side 7HY-3105 or a left side 7RD-3106 spindle

Thanks in advance for looking to see what you've...

Re: king pin replace

Use NOS on the kingpin set since there is no "better"
setup and alternatives are nowhere near the quality.
Edelbrock's 94 carb does have the threaded vacuum port, it has a
brass plug installed...

Re: Wilwood front disc kit 140-14190

Sadly, any rotor & caliper combo is going to be heavier than that F-1 front drum setup. Only an aluminum caliper might have a chance at not having a weight penalty. I’m not a big fan of sliding...

Re: Electric wiper conversion

I sold the Newport conversion I had and rebuilt the vacuum setup. Has a Trico Electrovac too..... works pretty well.

Re: Wilwood front disc kit 140-14190

Havenít had a chance to do any measuring but my gut feeling is that the Wilwood kit wonít fit with my rims. I may develop my own kit. Iím looking into a few details right now.

Re: Wilwood front disc kit 140-14190

I've seen the diagram. I'm going to have to make a 13.58" circle out of cardboard and see where it hits...... it's that close. My educated guess is
that the outside caliper block won't clear in the...

Wilwood front disc kit 140-14190

Anyone have this kit and stock design 15" steel rims?
I've got brand new rims from Wheelsmith and wondering about clearance
to the outer half of that Wilwood caliper.

Thanks.

Re: Where Do You Find Your Ford Parts

A 3rd vote for Fred W @ Southside. Awesome for NOS. I was told years ago not to piss him off though...... in general I strive not to do that anyway ;)

Re: F1 truck MC bench bleed

Did brakes and suspension for a living at a couple of shops.
Bench bleeding was done very seldom. In general it's a waste
of time. If done, you're supposed to plug the port(s) afterwards and...

Re: Opinion on PCV valve for flathead?

My port below the carb (iron factory 8BA intake) is 3/8-18, which is NPT dimension. Just installed a fitting with a 1/16" nipple to run vacuum hose to a "Delco" distributor.
Maybe those manifold...

Re: 1937 Ford V8 Steering Box Bushes

^ What he said.
After installation they generally need to be sized to your sector shaft by the fine folks at your local machine shop.

Re: Holley 94 rebuild time

I've got one in the 94 on my truck. Been there about 4-5 years. No issues, even with the California gas.

Re: E 3 spark plugs

Depends upon which auto manufacturer. If it's Ford, they never saw an (economic) corner they didn't want to cut. Good enough is good enough in their book. GM can be nearly as "thrifty" on their...

Re: Delco distributor on my flathead now

Yup it's a Hays conversion- reluctor presses onto the cam and the pickup unit is basically a Chrysler setup. It's firing an old Clifford/Jacobs box.

Hays ignition is defunct but the son of the...

Delco distributor on my flathead now

Kudos to Charlie in NY. Big drivability improvement over the load-o-matic.
(and my load-o-matic was in pretty good tune)

Re: Transmission internal gear question..... UPDATE Sept 2020

Charlie was right. The Old Ford Store came through on my transmission and fixed the issue. Apparently the cluster gear had some heat-treatment issues which caused the problem.

I've got a spare...

Re: Inductive tach

^ That would be good to know.
Used to see these types of tachs years ago on lawnmower engines, usually in gocarts.

Re: Shop ruined my '48 radiator tanks

Interesting. They apparently have no idea that the automotive aftermarket & dealer-based repair business need over 1M techs in the pipeline..... pretty much immediately.
In your neck of the woods,...
