I believe V8 Bob noted some time back that the plate in this picture does not belong with those half bells.


You are correct Denny...the Merc has (I believe) two extra holes to bolt to the pan...

Here are the two of them....cast iron LEFT, stamped-steel on RIGHT. The stamped-steel ones only came on '49-early '51 Mercurys. DD

I don't think you really want to bolt an 8BA to a regular engine stand with the BOLT-ON half bell still attached. That's too much weight and leverage hanging-off of that stand only SUPPORTED ON ONE...
