I have the factory info and setup for the V8 clutches, I too once thought it was a black art, but if you follow the ford info its NOT.

I wouldn, t try doing it that way, I have done the one on my 33 and it was way easier to take the whole frame out and do it on a large flat bench,The only hard part was geting out the hinge...

the engine in our dragster is 276, 4/71 blower at 13 lbs ,home made heads ,has run 9.3 at 141 mph , with the weight of the dragster we think about 350hp.

Ted, I went to the muffler shop today and maybe will look at fitting a bigger newer muffler, shame as the whole system is stainless and fits up realy nice.

new U/joint , no vib or noise from there, Fan belt ,it would not know if the power was on or off you would think.

8rt heads are truck ones ,and have a larger chamber.
I sure noticed the difference on our 33 with using heads with the larger chamber,
Less MPG and torque.

I have just done the inside of our 33,using dynamat,
great ,I did from the top of the firewall to the back of the floor under the rear seat,
VERY quite and a lot cooler.

I use an old crankshaft ,cut off at the start of the rear main, hold it by the rear main part and clock it up in the 4 jaw,then bolt the flywheel to it.
