Re: To the George Washington MARC club

They came to our Christmas party and were introduced to the group. They will get some help soon.

Re: Model A Registration Woes

Is the current title in his name? That should be okay if it does. You will probably need something to verify that his wife is the executor, unless her name is on the title, which I suspect it is...

Re: To the George Washington MARC club

Thanks, Leo. We provide assistance to members who need some help with their car. The holiday party is this Saturday, so I hope we will see them there. We look forward to helping them out.

Re: Using Ford Barn as an distraction

The worst news and especially at this time of year. You are in our hearts and thoughts.

Re: Thanksgiving week T project work...

Jeff P.: Nice spacious, well lighted, very tidy garage. I am jealous.

Re: 1947 convertible

I wonder if the car had a modern coil at some point? That is the only reason i can think of for not having one, but maybe the PO took it out? That wouldn't explain to me why the voltage is 4.5 at...

Re: Thanksgiving week T project work...

Mine isn't running and hasn't run since around 1962. Hope to get it running before too long.

Re: 1947 convertible

No ballast resistor in the coil.

That 4.5 v should be enough to start the car as that is what the ballast resistor does-reduces the voltage. It should be fairly easy to find under the dash,...

Re: Slight mix up!

There is a lot of brand loyalty with us, but maybe there aren’t enough of us to make a Difference? I hear the Flex is a very nice car, but never sold that well.

Re: tesla Truck

Tubman, I will try my truck with a trailer. I looked at the specs in the owner’s manual and it seemed that I could tow a Model A. I guess as I get older I worry about safety a bit more than I once...

Re: tesla Truck

I think it is ugly, too. There will be competition, so let’s see what else comes out.

I have a stripper 2006 F-150 w/ a V6 and a 5 spd manual. I would like electric windows and mirror as it is...

Re: FORD vs FERRARI

I just saw the movie and loved it. I thought that Damon and Bale were terrific. Of course it had to be the suits vs. the racers and maybe it was that way. Anyone who has worked in a corporation...

Re: Remove/Replace Headlight Reflector

I bought Bratton's reflectors for both my Model As. What a difference.

Re: FORD vs FERRARI

No one is perfect, but it's too bad Beebe and HFII were not represented accurately.

I only know of Beebe from what is written here and he has a good story. HFII was also far from perfect,...

Re: Fraud Alert

Ebay's fraud detection is sorely lacking in my experience. I think the biggest scams and frauds are around electronics.

I have "sold" an iPhone twice recently, but noticed some issues with...

Re: FORD vs FERRARI

We are going to be tough critics. I did hear a positive review on the radio, but not by a car guy. Probably worth going to see regardless. A great story of larger than life characters: Enzo,...

Re: Tudor pronunciation

I have no facts to back this up, but like Fordor, I think Tudor was pronounced like two door. To use the British pronounciation would be too precious for Henry Ford. Edsel might have gone along,...

Re: Old problem but new twist? Coolant loss

I assume there is no indication of a leak? If it is getting into the cylinders, you can typically smell antifreeze in the exhaust.

I had an odd leak in my car that I thought was the water pump. ...

Re: Interest in new restoration project thread?

Thanks for taking the time to do a thread. A lot of work is involved in putting one together. It is like writing a book, but with very short chapters.

Re: Time for Henry to come out of retirement.

Finish it so that you can enjoy it, too.

I find that the largest impediment is inertia, whether it is in your head or physically. I always liked the Nike tag line: Just do it!

Re: repro exhaust manifold

Ford did change the manifold in 1931 to provide more material at the last exhaust port to provide more strength to prevent drooping. In my case I had one manifold that was cracked near the bend at...

Re: F-8 Trucks

FWIW, I think people would enjoy seeing the big trucks. Like anything else, some folks would need to volunteer to get the ball rolling and make it happen.
