Re: Inner tube advice needed

My old one was made in China. My newest one was made in Vietnam. I'm going to order one from Brattons and hope theirs is better.

Re: Inner tube advice needed

Little tiny holes on the inner part, next to the rubber stem. I need to pick up some new patches and cement and try again. When I go to town tomorrow, I will ask the guys at the tire store....maybe...

Do any of the suppliers sell a heavy-duty 21 inch inner tube? I patched, installed, re-patched, installed my older one....another leak! Gave up. Got my new one installed today......new leak....

Re: Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I drilled out the first inch of the light tube, got the steering wheel a little farther down, and used a little emery cloth on the last inch of the horn rod, put a little grease there, and put on the...

I think I have it fixed. Everything is back together and the light switch does not move when I turn the wheel. Thanks for all the good ideas. Model A people are the best!

Re: Horn rod moves with steering wheel

No paint or goo that I can see. I am going to use a small file to clean up the splines and go from there. I put some "never-sieze" on them when I had it on, so it was pretty easy to tap it off with...

Re: Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I think the problem is this: the steering wheel hub did not seat down on the steering column far enough. The horn tube did not stick out past the steering wheel nut. Should I clean up the splines so...

Re: Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I got the brass bushing, so I will use some ideas to make it all work. Thanks for all the good suggestions.

Re: king pin locking bolt

I just noticed last week that one of my king pin locking pins had fallen out! Checking back in my manuals, I see that the pin should be driven in from the front of the axle and then the nut and lock...

Re: Horn rod moves with steering wheel

My horn rod is brand new and perfectly straight. Everything works perfectly until I compress the spring and slip the clip on the shaft to hold the spider on. That apparently pulls the top of the...

Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I have everything back together on my 7-tooth steering shaft, and the light/horn rod works just fine until I attach the spider at the bottom. I have seen on other threads that there is a thin light...

Re: Is this a standard 21" Model A wheel?

So far so good. This wheel matches the ones on the car. I forgot I had another one that is in better condition....but I am going to use this one and use the other one when I can afford a new tire. I...

Re: 7-tooth Sector problem

Never mind! I had the thrust screw on the wrong side of the cover!
Sometimes it's the simple things we miss.

7-tooth Sector problem

I am installing a new 7-tooth sector shaft, but even with the thrust washer on the shaft and without the gasket, the sector thrust screw does not reach the end of the shaft until it is farther in...

Re: Is this a standard 21" Model A wheel?

I am sure that I could find a really nice used one, but out here conveniently situated in the middle of nowhere, I don't mind trying to make do.

Question Is this a standard 21" Model A wheel?

Can you tell from this photo if this is a standard wheel and not an AR?
This is my spare wheel I am working on.....very badly rusted rim, but I'm
smoothing it out with a airtool scaler and an angle...

Re: 7 Tooth Help

I just discovered that the new oil seal retainer will not fit for me. I didn't check
the inside diameter of the steering shaft. The old retainer will have to do. Maybe the shaft on the column I am...

Re: 7 Tooth Help

I have seen this illustration, but I didn't notice where it says "Remove and discard the oil seal." I still can't figure out what the felt washers in the gasket kit are for. I seem to have ordered...

Re: 7 Tooth Help

I guess you are right about the O-ring. From what I read, some machining would
be necessary to use it. I don't plan on using it. I am still wondering if the felt washer needs to be cored out or...

Re: 7 Tooth Help

I intend to re-use the brass shims. I guess the paper ones are
the only ones supplied now.

Re: 7 Tooth Help

I don't remember where I got the gasket set. The brass
shims are out of my current column.

Question 7 Tooth Help

I am rebuilding my 7-tooth steering column and wondering
how the oil seal retainer with tube is installed. The old oil seal retainer
