Re: What is the price of a rebuilt flathead??

I'm not as involved with the Flathead scene, but am heavily into the small block Fords and other OHV engines. My experience is that once an engine is assembled, nobody wants to buy it. A private...

Re: GL 1 oil

GL-4 is what you likely need. GL-5 is rumored to not play well with brass/bronze. GL-4 is friendly with old stuff. Summit has GL-4 80w90 PennGrade for $8.99/qt.

Some gear oil has a GL-4/GL-5...

Re: Shop led lighting

That's odd that those require a ballast. Most conversion bulbs do NOT require a ballast at all. It is completely bypassed. You snip the wires to the ballast, and simply hook the black 120 V wire...

Re: Shop led lighting

I went through Amazon. I've updated 33 8ft fixtures, and a bunch of 4ft, and a couple 2 ft. Since the LED bulbs are so much brighter, some replace the two fluorescent bulbs with only one LED, and...

Model A Steering Gear/Column Weirdness and Question

This past spring, I gathered up the remaining parts dad had stashed in Florida, and brought them back up here to WV. One item is what looks to be a new steering gear/column. I'm not familiar with...

Re: Shop led lighting

My garage had 22 standard 8ft fluorescent fixtures, and dad's garage here had the 8ft high output fixtures with the different ends on the bulbs.

I decided to convert all of mine to LED, and...

Re: Mixing synthetic and regular oil

I run Mobil 1 15w50 in all of my old and air cooled engines. The mustang, dirt bikes, lawn mowers, pressure washers, etc all get it.

It's the only Mobil 1 that has the full amount of zinc for...

Re: 1934 V8 Grille Emblem

This is an original 1934 grill with factory, non-reproduction emblems... and is what the emblems look like for this model year. And yes, it fastens as was said.

Re: Thinking about selling the '34 Phaeton

I placed the value at... at least $40k. I believe $35k for the car is an extremely fair price. In this day, it's pretty much one of a kind. The vast majority in this condition got restored long...

Re: Thinking about selling the '34 Phaeton

Here are a few pics of the interior. All of the side panels, floor mats, etc are original. The only thing that has been re-done are the seat bottoms. Even the seat backs are the original leather!...

Re: Thinking about selling the '34 Phaeton

Thanks for the $0.02 :)

The thing with this car, is the sample size is too small to find valid comparisons for accurate assessments. As for 'invested capitol'... Dad bought the car in 1963 for...

Re: Thinking about selling the '34 Phaeton

I didn't say the truck loads of parts all go with it... but of course the parts unique to the vehicle, such as the side curtains, etc do. Of course the NOS front axle, rear fender, etc can be...

I appreciate the sentiments, but it's time. As was said earlier, I live in a small rural town out in the middle of nowhere... and there's nobody to play with here. I couldn't even tell you where...

No, no, no... Not fishy at all. Trusted long term members here. I was unsure of some of the items dad had, and they were helping me identify a lot of the stuff. We had a good time, and he didn't...

Re: Steering Wheel

Dad knew his parts REALLY well. He labeled most of the parts he has as to what they are. If he labeled it NOS, it's indeed NOS. He had bought and sold antique car parts all over from Detroit,...
