I agree !!! If a person has to use an oil filled coil It would be best to mount the coil so that the wire connections are at the top . The original was a solid tar filled coil and the inner coils...

I'm not sure about correct measurements but it looks a little too narrow to be a coupe fender . My guess is deluxe phaeton rear fender .

A six volt coil is rated at one point five OHM or near it . A twelve volt coil is rated at three OHM and will not need a resister .

It would be easier and less expensive to first try a new condenser . Both the coil and the condenser have the same symptoms when going out . let them cool for a while and they will usually run again...

I run mine,12 volt positive ground and NO wires were changed , it has worked perfectly for years . If converting to negative ground wires will need to be changed .

Being as the battery that is used controls the voltage , I've got to wonder if Joe meant amps . Raise the adjustable brush in the generator to reduce amperage out put . Just a thought .
