Re: Best location for master switch in a Tudor

Check out the Tech Topics on the Cedar Creek website. There's an article there for just what you asked.

Re: Locating dimple on timing gear

+1!!!!

Sharpening the end of the timing pin a bit helps as well if you can't get to the dimple to drill it larger.

Re: Locating dimple on timing gear

How would this be possible? The cam has two pins that align the cam gear. They are NOT symmetrical with the cam mount and the cam gear will only fit over them in the correct orientation. (I suppose...

Re: What's wrong in this picture?

Dippers on the rod caps are supposed to face the cam side of the engine. They appear to be backwards.

Re: Why can't my generator move?

You may have the wrong water pipe. Check out the Judging Standards, page 3-7.

Re: Battery Cutoff Switch in 29 Model A

It should be in the ground cable irregardless of whether it's positive or negative ground.

I'll be with Ken. A whole bunch of $1 items and some other good stuff. As usual, leftovers from one project or another. For weather:

Re: New Battery shut off switch, now ammeter is strange

You may not be the ONLY person out there with "dual leads", but I have never heard of that before! Most run a ground lead from the transmission to the frame and then the normal frame-to-battery lead...

Yes. In fact, that is the BEST place to put it!

Re: F100 rear drum brake assemblies to Model A

Thanks for the scan, Greg.

Do you have any hints for adapting the Model A wire wheels to the F100 drum/hub assembly?

Regards,

Bill

Re: F100 rear drum brake assemblies to Model A

Can't help with the rear brake install, but am looking for the information you mentioned regarding the front. Can you send me links for that?

Thanks.

Re: Why can't the photo upload problem be fixed

Not so. It can be fixed on the website if the owners/maintainers want to do so.

I run several websites where picture uploads are allowed. The software on the website accepts what is uploaded,...

Re: The A will not move

For diagnosis: If the axle is broken, wouldn't the wheel/hub/broken part of the axle be capable of being pulled out of the axle housing? It's only the axle with the attached axle gear (inside the...

Yes, that would be one way, but likely very uncommon.

Re: Play in rear axle

If the play is in-n-out, it means that the bearing surface inside the carrier where the axle gear makes contact is worn badly. I had a rear end on my car with the same symptom: OTOO 1/8" end play...

Re: installed a new 6:1 head now a tapping noise

Roxo, if you haven't yet pulled the pan, how could you see the sides of the pistons? On my engine, with very similar symptoms as you described, nothing was apparent until I could remove the pistons...

Re: installed a new 6:1 head now a tapping noise

Same symptoms, much the same diagnostic path. Ended up pulling the motor and disassembling. Found #3 piston scored from rings down. Fortunately no damage to cylinder wall.

Now pistons/rings and...

Re: Newby with a question - Castor angle

Joe, could you elaborate on this? My car came to me with the cast iron mount w/rubber ball insert. The rubber had deteriorated due to the typical oil soak of the Model A, so I replaced it with a...

Re: Flywheel housing

As you turn the crankshaft to move the dial indicator, the crankshaft can AND WILL move within the end play unless you somehow keep it forced against the thrust bearing. That screws up any...

Re: Flywheel housing

The spec for crankshaft end play is OTOO .004" Since you're trying to get the FWH dialed to less than .006", letting the crank move renders the FWH measurements worthless.

Re: Flywheel housing

Picture is misleading since this check MUST be performed with the engine hanging nose down so that any end play in the crankshaft doesn't screw up the measurement of the flywheel housing,
