Re: Harbor Freight tape measures come up short

Your talking about measuring tapes got me thinking because I always carry a small 6 ft tape in my pocket along with a Swiss Army knife and a Craftsman 4 inch adjustable wrench. Amazing what you can...

Re: Cast iron brake drums

I agree with all that is said above. However in my opinion and if you want to save some money, and if your brakes are set up so the fronts do most of the work, then i feel it is not necessary to do...

Re: Head gasket

How much was taken off the head and block. If they were just cleaned up I wouldn't think you need to worry about too much compression. A little more compression is a good thing. I use the Best Co....

Re: Rear backing plates delima

There are two thicknesses of brake linings. One is 3/16 which is standard. You may have the thicker 1/4 which could be causing the problem. I tried the 1/4 but had to go back to the 3/16.

Re: Help with Wheels!!

If it were mine I would go for new or better used originals. If the rims are rusted through they are most likely thin in other parts. Not good to have one come apart on the hi way.

Re: loping engine?

Check to make sure you don't have a manifold leak. Also check to see that the throttle linkage returns properly.

Re: Installation of Rebuilt Original Ignition Switch

If you are a fair shade-tree mechanic and have changed a few timing belts on modern cars this will be a piece of cake. One comment I could make is when ever I take the distributor out I have the...

All the major suppliers have wiring harnesses available. Snyders and Brattons are just two of many. Brattons.com or Snydersantiqueauto.com

Re: Not Model A related!

I have had good luck doing what eagle recommended. On a chain saw it was either weld the plastic or throw the chain saw out as the tank was part of the frame.

Can you find a SAE 10-34. It is only .00012 less in pitch and .007 smaller in diameter.

Re: 1930 Model A. Runs great for about 15 minutes

Maybe if it was running retarded it got hot enough to effect the coil or condenser.

Re: Zenith Carb Float Valves

I agree with Tom on the Vinton tip. But you have to be picky. I got one from Bratton's and it leaked. I took it apart but didn't see anything so put it back together. It still leaked. So I ordered...

Re: Swapping to collapsible steering column?

Synchro909. Do you have any pictures of you shoulder harness rig. It sounds like a good idea to me. I would think it would work for the passenger side too. Thanks

Re: Rotella T4 oil, dirty oil

No and I don't think it is necessary at least with a K&N. My plugs look good never fowl and I have never cleaned them.

Re: Rotella T4 oil, dirty oil

I use Rotella 15-40 and change it at about 500 miles. I have a K&N air filter but no oil filter. At 500 miles my oil is a little dark but no way black. If I put a drop on my finger I can still see my...
