Re: 1931 Pickup Journal
After a hiatus from working on the truck, I got it up on some jack stands and started looking at the brakes and front axle. There was a ton of play in the kingpins and also pretty poor wear on the...

Re: 1931 Pickup Journal
While being at home a lot more now, I started doing some work on the truck for the first time since 2016 to get it running better.
I started off last month getting a new battery and draining the...

U-Joint Inspection for Vibration
https://youtu.be/KGXtCB5AoG8
This seems like way too much side to side play in the u-joint based on what I’ve seen with more modern parts. It is still pretty tight when purely twisting the...

Re: Compression Test Results
Alright, update on the situation. I gave it a pretty thorough Seafoam treatment and that seemed to help a little. It wasn't missing driving it in second gear down my little road like it did...

Re: Compression Test Results
Yes, WOT. Poured some Seafoam into the gas. Hopefully that helps. Will idle it and maybe try again today.

Re: Compression Test Results
I forgot to have the other plugs out as I did the compression test. Re-did it and the results are slightly better, but still low: 46/44/36/46. Sorry about that. I guess overhaul of some kind...

Re: Compression Test Results
The red wire off the + side of the ignition coil runs into the cab under the dash. Battery is connected + side to the chassis ground.

Re: Compression Test Results
After looking at the ignition coil, the coil wire sheathing is pretty work out and breaking off in a couple spots. Maybe another issue? I will try to grab a video of the car running to maybe help...

Re: Compression Test Results
The car wasn't running so well when I put it away. I may need to try some of the Seaform type stuff in the fuel. Pretty sure I have a can sitting around.

Re: Compression Test Results
I drained out the old gas and cleaned out the carb and made sure everything was clear and didn't have any blockages. I have a 6 volt coil with a new 6 volt battery. For the coil, the side marked...

Compression Test Results
I have been trying to get my A going again after a few years of sitting around. It ran okay in the fall of 2015, but the following spring/summer, it was having issues going up anything but flat road...

Re: Sediment Bowl/Fuel Line Question
Update: Re-did the line and shortened up the first section so it looks like msmaron's and then made one large radius smooth bend to the front of the Model B carb. I drained the fuel tank while doing...

Re: 1931 Pickup Journal
John, I used used 30 weight non-detergent oil for that reason. I plan to do the pan pretty soon. It will be before I start driving it again and after getting the fuel and radiator all sorted.

Re: 1931 Pickup Journal
I gave a quick flush with just a hose and bucket while I work on another contraption. Got a lot of murky water and debris. Ran the hose through the upper hose until the water ran clear. Then...

John, I changed the oil and need to replace the pan gasket and will be cleaning the pan when I do that. I have seen that video and it is crazy!

Re: 1931 Pickup Journal
What's the best way to flush the block? I have to imagine it's as bad in there as it was in the radiator. I was going to run distilled water with Redline Water Wetter.

Re: Sediment Bowl/Fuel Line Question
Thanks for the picture. I will bend up a new section with a smoother bend. Do you think that could have caused the backfiring while in third year? Carb bowl not fully refilling quickly enough?

Sediment Bowl/Fuel Line Question
