Re: Generator or Alternator, that is the question.

Cadillac….I loved the quote from Smokey Yunick. He has to be my favorite stock car celebrity! He could go a ways further on a tank of gas than anybody else one Sunday and he got inspected after the...

Re: Dwell Meter for 6V?

Lathe = cool.

My wife will object if I buy a lathe.

Thanks

Dwell Meter for 6V?

Where can I buy a decent dwell meter for a 6 volt system?

A couple days back I promised I would check the dwell on my 53 that I have gapped at 0.016, but I don’t own a dwell meter. I had hoped my...

Re: 49 ford ground cable

Success.

Found the 8/32 screws for points at the hardware store. 12 cents each.

Installed the NAPA Echlin points and condenser. Started right up. I’m assuming it was a bad condenser as Ken...

Re: 49 ford ground cable

Thanks for the advice!

One step forward and two back. I have 6.4 volts at the coil.

Then I proceeded to change out the (4 year old) points and condenser and managed to drop a points hold down...

Re: 49 ford ground cable

Re: No gas

If not already mentioned, I would buy a cork gasket to put on top of the sediment bowl. I have had trouble with rubber gaskets (even new ones). Cork seems to seal better than rubber.

Re: Ford 94/ Holley 94 Power Valves

Okay. Thanks, fellas. Very helpful.

I ordered a new power valve (actually another kit) from Daytona Parts this morning.

That will give me time to go back and find Mart's video on rebuilding a...

Re: Ford 94/ Holley 94 Power Valves

Ok. I put a vintage speed kit into a Ford 94 last summer. Including a new power valve.

The motor seems to be running so rich that it floods itself out at idle…if that’s even possible.

After...

Re: My car is shocking is yours?

In the 70's, my Dad welded a short length of chain from the frame of his combine to the ground under the theory it would shed static electricity and thereby keep dust from sticking to the windows of...

Re: engine colors

I rebuilt a 53 V8 in a Customline that I assumed had the original paint on it. It looked orange but believe it is called "Ford Red". The paint all came off at the machine shop and then repainted it...

Re: How to Haul a Car to South Dakota

I had only considered road and weather hazards...had never thought about crooks and vandalism! I need to get out more!

Good tips. Thanks. I am following up on the HAMB link.

Re: Video of a "Trip through the River Rouge Plant"

Very fascinating! I had not seen this before. Makes me appreciate all the hard work that went into these V8s to begin with. Thanks.
