Re: Towing my Model A

I've hauled my "A's" thousands of miles in the past years. I used to tie to the axles but in the last couple years I've been throwing heavy duty ratchet straps over the front and rear bumper...

Re: Wind Wings 31 Roadster [fell off]

Someone on here suggested quite a few years ago for me to drill holes in the glass and make some short dowels that go threw the glass but not all the way threw the clamps and then glue. Works good...

Re: Mikes model A ford parts

I've done business with Mike's for 7 or 8 years and have never been disappointed in service or quality. I can say that about some of the others.

Re: Transmission Issues

Not on a Model A but on a truck I once had, the pilot bearing was bad and caused a drag on the pilot shaft of the transmission. This truck had a ball bearing pilot bearing. Just a thought.

Re: Model A Improvements

Everybody has been trying to out do "old Henry" for the last 90 years and it's a tough job if everything is original and in good shape. But there is parts that are superior to the parts and...

Re: Colonel Sanders

I'm almost sure I remember seeing a Real McCoy's show with the Mexican hired hand driving a 28 or 29 phaeton. The one shown here is a 1931 I think. Must have had to up date somewhere in the show.

Re: Securing the exhaust better

I've owned and operated a tool & Die shop for over 35 years and have made lots of rear exhaust hangers for my friends Model A's. Not bragging but about the best I've seen for fixing the rear hanger....

Re: How much weight in a attached trunk

The reason I carry the extra gas on long tours only is we can't buy non-ethanol gas just anywhere here and I want burn ethanol anymore. My trunk is off an old 1924 Packard and is a little big for a...

Engine lopping in first and second gear

Drove my 30 tudor today and noticed that in first and second it seemed to try to lope. It runs perfect going down the road at 50 miles per hour down to 10. I played with the advance but didn't seem...

Re: V-belt and very small pulleye

I made new steel pulleys for both my alternator cars. I didn't like the small diameter and belt contact. I was concerned at first about them not turning the alternators fast enough but I can't tell...

Re: Alternative to anti-freeze to stop corrosion

I don't understand the fuss about using something other than antifreeze. I've used mostly Preston antifreeze for 57 years and never had one problem. I knew a man that heard that kerosene was a good...

Re: What's the latest you can remember anyone using an A?

I grew up with a family of 2 boys and a girl and their only transportation was a 30 or 31 sedan. Sometime in the late sixtys the mom and kids all packed up and went to see her brother and his family...
