Re: where can i find a 40 ford tourqe tube speedo drive for 325 gear ratio

If any difference, it'll be the difference in dimension between the radius where it mounts on the torque tube, and the centerline of the pin that the gear turns on. Remember that the outside...

Re: Cleaning parts

TRUE! Easy Off (the yellow can) is great for removing pinstriping. I've never left it on my paint for more than about five or six minutes.....BE CAREFUL! DD

Re: Which flywheel ???

On the right is a proper 8BA-type flywheel. The one on left is '48 and earlier. Note the difference in height (and width) of the ring gear for the starter drive between the two! Also notice that...

Re: Is it OK to bend the transmission lever On my 39? How?

One more bit of advice...don't be going to eBay or Speedway looking for a clutch. Go to the accepted experts for a clutch......FT. WAYNE CLUTCH. Their contact is easy to find, and if you'll talk...

Re: Is it OK to bend the transmission lever On my 39? How?

WOW...twenty posts of guys trying to figure-out your problem for you, and you finally mention the type of engine...a 59AB! You MUST use an EARLY flywheel (1948 and earlier) or the starter drive will...

Re: Help 33-34 draive shaft in shortened 40 rear end tourqe tube

It would be awful difficult to shorten the front 18-20" or so on a '35-'36 torque tube because of the taper, not to mention fitting a "fat" tubular drive shaft in that front tapered portion. DD

Re: Any brake geniuses out there?

This is one REALLY good reason NOT to turn drums any more than the recommended dimensions, like 12.060" limit on our old Ford drums. The more meat in the drum, the less likely it is to distort in...

Re: RH LH Heads on 37

Odd numbers, even numbers....Chevy (and I'd guess ALL of GM) has done the same thing with left/right parts since at least 1955, and probably for eons before that. DD

Re: RH LH Heads on 37

YIKES! I surely didn't know that you could heat a CAST axle, and be able to bend it. Could you elaborate, please? DD

Re: Help 33-34 draive shaft in shortened 40 rear end tourqe tube

Re: Source for clutch/brake pedal assembly small parts

If you haven't checked lately, you might be surprised at how much ORIGINAL Ford '39 pedal assemblies are bringing on 'the Bay'. They go for $150-200 frequently. DD
