Re: Yard sale "A" project

It would make a good 5 window pickup cab with some modifications.

Re: Model a frame

I think that I read somewhere that the late 29s had the new style cross member and that the factory added washers until the new radiators came out. If so then you may have the original cross member...

Re: Snow in SC

Re: tires

The Universals from Summit Racing were shipped free as were the tubes. I wouldn't run anything on the road much over 10 years old as tires have...

Re: Preservation of Newspaper “Dec. 2nd 1927 New Ford ad”

I worked in an archive for a while and we took high quality photos of things like that as it is so hard to preserve low quality paper. If it was a significant item like yours, I would place it...

Re: Leaking head gasket

Be sure to check the oil as the coolant can go down the distributer shaft. I would torque and use some stop leak before pulling the head.

Re: What Are Your Thoughts On Using a Honeycomb Radiator?

I have a 30 tudor that is kind of a 50s Model A as it has the typical metal roof and V8 wheels, I am just leaving it like that as I have already done the restore route on the other 2. So I would...

Re: ALU drip rails

Maybe just use the straight section and cut off the curved inner part.

Re: Model A/T Magnet ?

After 90+ years many have to recharge the magnets in Model T's as they get weak. I think even the early cars had a battery but it was a dry cell and only used when cranking as the mag has to be...

Re: Making the GAZ AA

Nice photos, such a neat part of Model A history, they were really put to use during the war.

Re: Which plug do you run?

I am still running C 16 C in the car that I restored in the 70s, probably the key to all of them is having the mixture right.

Re: 1928 AA with a load of firewood.

Beautiful! It looks great with a load on it and you will have dry wood. I have bits and pieces of a Model A that I am slowly building into a wood hauler to go back in rough areas to bring out small...

Re: Relace condenser?

There are several videos on youtube on trouble shooting the electrical system and also instructions in various places. I finally researched all of this and learned to diagnose the problems with my...

It looks like it is a choice of materials that aren't original but are better for daily use. I guess one's rear wouldn't...

Re: Car cuts off for unknown reason

One of the major things that move around (if not clamped down properly) is the battery. It sounds like something that is turn related electrical but if it is a fuel blockage in the carb, it will shut...

Re: Travel in Cold Weather

I would drain it and then replace with 50/50 water/antifreeze then you know for sure what is in it.

Re: Search for "oil" brings no hits?!

When I started running A's 45 years ago the debate was HD or plain 30 wt. I have been confused about the whole thing over the years but the info on this posting has cleared things up some, at least...

Re: 1930 Fordor low compression

I had a similar problem and had to lap the valves with the suction cup tool and grinding compound. It was a job since some of the valve guides wouldn't come out even with the KW tool so I just did...

It could possibly go on a redesigned breather cap and pipe around to go into the vacuum on the intake manifold?

Re: Will not shift into second

Nice looking car! It will take a little while to get accustomed to it and get things ready for the road. Just part of having one so just keep at it. It will help when you get an experienced Model A...
