don't have a good picture but on the end of the tray is rounded metal piece on the bottom with two sort of wings on the side, your rod with the curve goes between these wings and then as you tighten...

did that not too long ago. what gears are you going to use? remember the splines on the drive shaft and the pinion are different requiring an adapter. we bored out and installed a drive shaft...

if you do not allow some outside air into the engine the PCV will not work. I had the same vacuum question until I put a breather cap back on the fill tube

the flat head adapter will go for $150 to 200 on e-pay. I have a 504 sun/flathead adapter and my son uses it more for his older chevy dizzy that I use it for flatheads
