They are called thermal breakers, and if overcurrent condition exists, they heat up and then open. When it cools it will close again. Sometimes they get weak and need to be replaced. Use an inline...

Re: Coolant Debris Looks Like RTV

Is it possibly radiator stop-leak? I've had that stuff turn to goo after some years and make a real mess in tractors. Some can be kind of coppery colored.

Re: Oil on Spark Plug

Is it exhausting some blue smoke? Wore rings can cause oil burning, if you are using synthetic oil it won't burn in the combustion chamber as much as regular oil and can cause oil in the cylinder...

Re: Mystery starting problem (or not)

Take some accurate readings with a good voltmeter before cranking and during cranking. Make sure you have a good ground strap between engine and chassis.

Re: Overheating cured by adding thermostat

Re: Best lubrication for transmission ?

Lucas oil stabilizer makes a huge difference in how the transmission feels. Gives the gearshift a silky smooth feel. Night and day difference over 600w. Several years ago I changed out the...

Re: Battery size

A battery box with a battery in it will rust. Needs to be cleaned properly and repainted periodically anyway. I don't think a board is going to make much of a difference, maybe don't use treated...

Re: i need some help. What regulator/pump for stock carb with underbody fuel cell?

Without lecturing the OP, a simple low pressure fuel pump off of Ebay with a T at the carb and a return line will supply the stock carb with fuel. I bought one for another project and it will run...

Re: Engine Stand

Re: Water pump won't fit now.

Exactly! However, a properly functioning radiator and a clean block will not reach the temps where flashover occurs. Higher water turbulance also leads to better heat transfer too.

Re: Water pump won't fit now.

Must be quite a pump if it can pump out more than it can pull in from the bottom of the radiator!

Re: emergency radiator repair

Another trick my granpa told me about. Burn some cork, then put the ash in the oil to reduce blue smoke out the tailpipe due to bad rings.

Re: Is fuel bubbling normal

If you are getting excessive heat, yes gas will boil at somewhere around 200+ degrees F, depends on the blend. If the timing is incorrect, then there will be excessive heat. If all is running fine,...
