Re: Auto Restorer magazine is belly up

Very few car magazines left. I had just renewed my sub. to a Pontiac magazine that went down and my money was put towards hot rod. I stopped reading that years ago, I guess I should've broadened my...

Re: Tools

I bought a large tool set prob around 1981-1982. It was craftsman box wrenches, sockets, through in a couple of screw drivers. 200+ pc. set. Being a carpenter by trade, wrenches are low priority so...

Re: Harbor Freight tape measures come up short

Re: Paint situation

Post #9 makes sense as well. I peruse the model a classifieds on almost a daily basis. For less than 20k one can buy a decent, restored car. 12k would go a long way towards that end. If a paint job...

Re: Paint situation

First-What is your end goal?
1. If you want a show car with a shiny paint job then it should be stripped to bare. $12k sounds reasonable, if not maybe a bit low.
2. Driver that you will take out...

Re: Straight Slotted instead of Cross-Point

This. I have been a contractor with a minor in furniture building for 40+ years. I will use a flat screw in applications where they are period correct for the furniture, other than that you can have...

Re: AAA Inspection

Is the 3 window coupe to the left of the pic an 'A'?, Interesting to see three different versions of the same car lined up.
I wonder if this inspection was mandatory or not, also wonder when states...

Re: Barrett Jackson Scottsdale

[/B]

This. I built a garage if you can call it that (100'x 200'), for a car collector. His annual trip was to Vegas to buy cars at BJ for this exact reason.

Re: Barrett Jackson Scottsdale

I know nothing about 'A's, but I too thought it was odd that they kept calling it a country sedan. Looked like fordor to me, and it looked very nice and brought a good price. The AA semi with tanker...

Re: Ok, I've got a question for the Northerners....long.

There was a story that my brother told me of his friend in high school. The friends father (a model T owner) went blind, had his car disassembled and put back together in the basement. He would sit...

Re: Ok, I've got a question for the Northerners....long.

Re: Steam cleaning engine/trans?

If pulling the motor is not an option (would be the best way to do the job), and power washing proves too messy.... I would try an engine degreaser that comes in a spray bomb. You can get that stuff...

Bonnie and Clyde

Saw an interesting documentary about the duo last night. One of the things that caught my eye was an interesting trunk on one of their cars from a period picture. Then I saw the same trunk on a car...

Sounds like you were lucky. I burned down my barn(and lost a car and a ton of parts) a few years ago whilst doing some angle grinding. Knew someone whom lost an XKE Jag and an early Hupmobile when a...
