Re: Sea foam

I use 4 ounces of Seafoam per tank of non-ethanol gas. I drive the car all year and have no adverse results in the three years I've been responsible for the car. The owner ran the same formula for...

Re: Set screw for dendix on starter

The car is a 1930. I did have to make the exact screw you pictured. I was able to do that with a drill, files and hacksaw. I feel I have a personal connection to the car now that I made something...

Re: New To The Model A Forum

I appreciate that color. I am fond of the green also but would like that on the fenders (if that were my personal car). I expect there isn't much of a leap from the attention you give the 32's you...

Re: Car won't start

I always check ground wire connections first. I see that you don't have the dust covers on your starter and alternator. If you get grit inside those units, you may not be completing the electrical...

Re: Set screw for dendix on starter

Thank you Bob C. I was indeed working on the bendix you have shown. Tough little buggers to figure out. But I have the time and haven't been licked by any machine yet.

Re: No comment

That photo in the windshield is the deceased owner Tad Provence. He comes with the car (dead or not).

Re: No comment

I am not sure if I knew Mr. Lucas. I've been in Mississippi since 1990 but am from NC. (1956 to 1988) and spent a few years traveling with different jobs.

Re: No comment

You are correct Bob. The Ramblin' Wreck (Georgia Tech car) is owned by the Univ. This car (Ramblin' Rebel) is still privately owned and not part of the school (except to promote team spirit by the...

Re: No comment

The white walls are from the Firestone plant in Rocky Mount NC. Better priced if you buy two at a time. So I've been told.

Re: No comment

I was wondering when anyone would realize this thing was out there in the "wild". I can still answer questions about this machine.
By the way, the Blue is a Mazda color. I didn't get to choose the...

Re: Zenith Carburetor

What model Zienth do you have? I have an #1 and did my own rebuild. The info was youtube available, service manuals and parts easy to get. If you don't find someone else to do the job, you get...

Set screw for dendix on starter

I haven't been on line for a while but thought I'd share a little project. The screws on the starter backed out and damaged the armature. Thank God there was no damage to the fly wheel. But, then...

Re: Horn Rebuild

Is it a Sparton horn? There are excellent rebuild videos on youtube. If you need to rewind the copper I would get a professional unless you have great skills I don't possess.

Re: Paint problem

Well Russ, step 1, cuss - check. Step 2, photo and post - check. Step 3, allot time, grab wrench, remove fender, call buddy, deliver fender, wait, wait, pray, wait.
Step 4, pay buddy lots of cash...

Re: Paint problem

As a military trained airframe/powertrain repair (Helicopters 1970's) I understand what caused the problem. I also understand that after nine years, all bets are off with a guarantee on the paint...

Paint problem

I walked into the garage and saw a large flake of paint next to the front tire. I saw there were other large flakes hanging down. I pulled and all the paint fell from the underside of the fender. ...

Re: Nice Bill Brauch family (MAFCA, A of the Day) 1936 photo

I have scratches on my fender where kids have mis-stepped getting into the rumble seat. I think I will consider putting in a pad for the step. Rubber would work best but leather may look better. ...

Re: AA mail truck

I noticed (like Vern did) that this is a right hand drive. The guy in the cab is certainly behind the steering wheel. Great photo.

Re: Which Carb is best, and why?

I don't know the others cause I work on the Zenith 1 (came with the car).

I dare not go into Holly carbs or other muscle machine juice producers.

Re: What are you doing with your A this winter?

I will be cranking and rolling into town (9 miles) for the weekly ride. Did the routine check of tire pressure, oil level, water and vermin escaping the cold weather. If the Good Lord's willing and...

Re: What's Your Preference: Restored, Original, Modified, Rod?

Good question Larry. The car in my photo belonged to a deceased friend. He (dictated in his will) and his family allow me the honor as "care taker". The paint was his idea to show at University of...

Re: What's Your Preference: Restored, Original, Modified, Rod?

I have to go with a restored original. That is what I know best (in a Model A), but love the workings of an original auto that runs and maintains all the designs of it's day (even if new or...

Re: because of the model A

I must step in and defend the Model A on this issue. Working on and driving a car that "makes you participate" with your whole body is not bad for your continued physical movement. Modern vehicles...

Re: Model A Roof Insulation

I agree with a breathable material for an insulator. The heat from inside of the vehicle will rise to the roof and be trapped in the car thus holding moisture as it condensates on the cold exterior...
