I have a good one operating in my car but usually keep spares of most overdrive stuff.

I had a 56 t-bird that originally had been an automatic converted to a standard with a T85 R11 overdrive... believe the automatic was a 3.31ratio. I was running 6-70-15 tires.
In direct drive at 70...

Here is the update I said I would post.....MY OVERDRIVE IS NOW WORKING 100 PERCENT.
There ended up being two issues.
#1...the plunger in the solenoid somehow jammed the pawl into the blocker ring...

40cpe...awoke up thinking about the light hook up to the relay as you suggested.. great minds think alike...no work on car today but tomorrow will try out the idea and report back...MERRY CHRISTMAS...

I tried what JIMNNN suggested to unlock the pawl from the blocker ring, info he stated came from Randy...

TO ALL TRANNY GUYS...a few random thoughts and questions....

#1..it appears that the blocker ring is not accepting the pawl and that the end of the pawl that fits into the blocker ring may have...

40CPE...yes, the overdrive worked well for many years and then one day it didn`t.

Anteek29...I will try another ground wire. That is about one of the few things I haven`t tried...…...will report...

Mac Vanpelt just got back to me...he stated that he had heard of solenoid plungers with a key on it but that Ford never used one.
I am curious as to what car or truck this was used on.

Just spoke with Randy Rundle and he stated he had never seen an OD plunger with a key. Still waiting to hear from Mac Vanpelt on this odd plunger. I will post when I hear from Mac.

I will admit that I have not tried to fit the solenoid into my transmission as the flats are lined up 8-2 oclock…

I have never seen a OD plunger with a key that would fit a keyway inside the solenoid.
This makes the plunger rod FIXED instead of being able to adjust the plunger to fit the transmission your using...

What Application uses a key on the plunger shaft that fits into a keyway inside the solenoid ?
Never saw one like this.... I will post a picture if possible.
