Finding one "hooped" valve is a sure indication that more are to come. A compression test will confirm whether there is a problem. A bent valve is unusual in an old flathead.

Find a shop that has the equipment and skill to do the job. At our shop we weld most things that haven't had amateur work already done that affect the alignment of the pieces.
