I had a similar noise, it was the springs or the plate of the front motor mount where it sits on the crossmember. A little oil shut it right up.

NO, you need a probe type thermometer for that, as you need to read the temperature INSIDE the meat.

If the pin is in the dimple and the #1 piston is down, it sounds like the mesh of the timing gears is incorrect. To verify you will have to pull the timing gear cover.

How about trying a pin punch type fitting in an air chisel gun?
Instead of WD40 try using Kroil or the acetone/atf mix.

Does the car have the foot push starter switch? Or does it have/use a solenoid?



FWIW, a Model A engine can be cranked over w/the starter or by using the hand crank.

I would suspect that the oil level is too high in the tranny, causing the error code.
Is there a dipstick or other option for checking the oil level in that tranny?
My 2015 Jeep has no provision...

One thing to note, the 6 cylinder distributor turns clockwise and the V8 distributor turns counter clockwise, so the respective point sets are opposites.

I just checked an original that I have in the shop, thread is 3/4-16 NF, the lockwasher is missing but IIRC it is an internal star washer.

Polish that "crack" w/scotchbrite to determine whether is is truly a crack or just a stain.
