Re: 1930 Coupe
Thanks Tom. One thing I did notice was that the contact in the distributor that the wire from the firewall screws into was within a 1/8 of the body of the distributor. I did bend it a little to give...

Re: 1930 Coupe
I'll put an end to this thread. Car is running. Unfortunately never figured out what was wrong. Pulled distributor, made sure there were no shorts, retimed it, and it started.
Thanks to all...

Re: 1930 Coupe
I checked all the areas for 6 volts that is mentioned in Ford Model A handbook. Everything looks good so far. I will dive into the distributor tonight. Hopefully I will find a shorted wire in...

1930 Coupe
Been running good for about 1 year. Yesterday ran idle up in garage and I heard a pop and now no spark. Changed coil and condenser- still no spark. Could the generator gone bad? Battery is good. ...

Re: Now it's a oil Leak
Only put 4 quarts in it. I can see it dripping down under. Just got to take the plung and get under it and follow the leak to the source. Can't be too many things down there that leak. It's not...

Now it's a oil Leak
I took my car for a 50 mile ride this weekend. Great ride- no problems. Next day I notice a rather large oil spot on the floor- looks like at least a half of quart. Took a quick look underneath...

Re: No spark at points
Had the same issue- no spark at points. In my case I had the cable that screws into the distributor turned in to far and it was shorted out. Turned it out a few turns and fired right up. Sounds too...

Re: Seems strange, battery vs spark at the plug
Have the same problem. That is car runs fine , but turn the lights on and after 5 minutes all goes bad. Turn the lights off and car runs great. I was told it was the battery , although relatively...

Re: backfiring
Have you checked the compression on each cylinder? My same problem was the fact that one of the exhaust valves was stuck open. If I was experienced I would have known by the lack of power, but I...

Already did that. No power to points when open. I can take distributor out - I am very comfortable with that- just a locking bolt on side.
