Re: Leaky Tire

Shew, to answer your original question, there is no reason that you can't reuse the old tube. Just blow it up and make sure there's no holes in it. I usually dunk it in a washtub and watch for the...

Manifold milling

Two of my model A friends have a discussion going about milling the surface on the manifolds. One friend, who thinks anything can be fixed by throwing money at it, says that if you change one...

Re: Any help for a new guy?

Garcia, I have modern points in my '30 town sedan too. Your problem sounds much like the trouble I had a couple years back. Mine was solved with a new condenser. Get the good one from NAPA. The...

Re: Brake lights

Your brake light was easy, you figured it out yourself, but the wagging license plate? That's got me stumped. Is it on the front or the back?

Re: Fan Blade Concern

I would echo Stingray's post. Put a magnet on the fan. If it sticks, replace it, if the magnet falls off, drive it.

Re: straight front bumper

Thanks for the thoughts. Now that I think more about it, I've decided that I'm the only one who has noticed that the bumper doesn't have a curve to it. I guess if it "ain't broke don't fix it."

straight front bumper

My '30 town sedan has a very nice front bumper but it's completely straight. I've had the car for almost 30 years and the bumper has always bothered me. At a swap meet a couple weeks ago someone was...

Powerhouse Generator

A friend bought a '28 Phaeton with a powerhouse generator. The other day he asked how to oil it. Told him my 1930 has oilers on the front and back but didn't know anything about the powerhouse. We...

Re: Loud Thud

I experienced the same thing Bob did. I found that the rubber ball on the front radius rod was shot. I replaced it and the difference was like night and day.

Re: photo on new Snyder catalog

I didn't notice it either. Tom, if the photo was printed backwards the steering wheel would be on the wrong side. The wheel is right, I mean left, I mean, I don't know what I mean.

Big Hammer is right. MMO does smell good. But I'm not sure what the smell is. Is it cloves or wintergreen or what?

Re: I know ... oil again ...

I wonder if Hazelhoff parks on a hill. My 30 town sedan will leak if I park with the front end going up hill. For instance, in my driveway.

Re: GAV Adjustment + Choke flood

First off, Welcome Bautiprea. Good to have you onboard. I've had my A for 28 years and I've found that what works for me is all of the above but I'll turn the engine over a couple turns with the...

Re: Gas Gauge Dissasembly

I have the aluminum set and have never had a problem. Snyder's sells both the aluminum and the steel sets in their catalog on page 145. The steel ones are more expensive but should get the job done. ...

Re: 160-C cost at the dealer?

Katy, That conversion table is interesting. What has happened to our dollar? I was interested in seeing the rate of inflation in the mid 80's. I'm a retired banker and I remember when the 6 month...

Re: 160-C cost at the dealer?

I refer to the book "Henry's Fabulous Model A, by Leslie Henry. It quotes the price of the 160C at $630.

Re: Lightened Flywheel?

I'm no expert, but Les Andrews says "The stock flywheel weighs 63 lbs. 4 oz. Do not drop it. Keep feet clear when lifting the flywheel into place. Feet do not mesh well with the flywheel ring gear."...
