Re: 50 Car Fuel Sender, slightly different question?

Thanks J. I was focused on the sender and didn't think about the gauge maybe being a problem. I gotta read those old posts before I mess around in that sender, looking at it nothing quite made sense....

50 Car Fuel Sender, slightly different question?

I'm wondering if any of the reproductions are useful at all? Like to let you know when you're getting real low?

I pulled the cover off my sender and looked in there, didn't see anything I should...

Re: 8BA Basic Cam Issues That're Over My Head

I'm sure I would have, but I want it for engine #3. And also, I'm an experimentalist on this stuff. I like to put stuff together and see how it works. "Do it once, do it right" often doesn't apply...

Re: First Flathead Build

Sharp: That's just what happened to me, I suspect it must be the usual run of things from what I've read. But there are good blocks out there, I know because I found 4 of em. Start asking car guys...

Re: 8BA Basic Cam Issues That're Over My Head

That little rig Gary shows looks like it would be a little more precise than my big file!

Re: 8BA Basic Cam Issues That're Over My Head

Thanks a lot guys. Ron: I have these nice 8RT heads and am using them since the engine is going in a truck. Using them is one of the reasons I decided to pull this Max One out and save it for the...

8BA Basic Cam Issues That're Over My Head

On my first flathead engine my machine shop guy, who I like and trust, got me a rebuild kit. It all seemed like pretty good stuff except the lifters, (the often discussed hollow adjustable offshore...

Re: Problem with My Aluminum Radiator

Thanks everybody, this is interesting. Seeing the gauges go up to about 180 and then dropping is just what I'm NOT seeing, as I did see with the other engine. I believe I'll take the advice to pull...

Problem with My Aluminum Radiator

It works too well. I just put my second flathead engine in my 50 car and drove it into town. Yesterday was about 90 degrees out, both banks stayed at about 160 for 10 miles. I had the same mechanical...

Re: Truck oil pan

I don't know if the ones on ebay sell, but they are always wanting at least $100 for them.

Re: 8RT Exhaust Crossover?

Thank you Ross. I like that illustration, where's it from? I have a lot of books here, but no pic that good.

Re: 8RT Exhaust Crossover?

Judging from some rusted out remnants I have here, maybe it was some kind of a Y arrangement?

8RT Exhaust Crossover?

I've set an 8BA block into my 46 half ton. I do have a pair of the truck exhaust manifolds, but no trucks around here to look at. What I'm wondering is: are there factory or replacement crossover...

Re: Overdrive experts I need some help.

Rotorwrench: I'm trying to figure all this out, but haven't connected all my OD stuff yet. The cut-out switch I have looks bad. Is it worth it to have a toggle switch somewhere to substitute for that...

Front Drums for a 46 Pickup?

Here is a detail I haven't found the information yet: I'm doing a 46 1/2 ton pickup and the front drums are pretty sorry. Buying all the other brake guts it seemed like this 1/2 ton and the passenger...

Re: 47 pickup

My pickup came with no engine and has a 1950 style differential in it. I'm getting ready to set the block and my top shift 3 speed in there so I can look at details like clutch linkage and drive...

Re: First Flathead Build

I'm no expert, but get along real well. Try different sockets, you'll find one that gets in there on those bolts. And if you don't have a little MIG welder, well you need one and that broken bolt is...

Re: 47 pickup

I guess you need the truck bell and starter plate. And the truck oil pan and pump. I'm just gathering the parts to do exactly this and haven't discovered potential obstacles.

Re: 6 volt starter install question

I've bought a couple new Echlin solenoids with that button. Work great and I love that button.
