Re: Stop light switch used for safety starter switch?

Re: Strange "Clanking Noise" at Idle

Before I watched the video I was guessing it might be the rivets and bolts from the flex-plate to the torque converter. The rivets working loose and cracks in the flex-plate is a known problem.

Re: 65 Thunderbird trunk lock mechanism

Here's a link to a very good parts source for '58 to '66 Thunderbirds.

At this linked search page below, select '65 as the year, type 'trunk lock' into the description box...

Re: 1957 Fairlane 500 automatic

FWIW...
the Fordomatic in my '55 was rebuilt a couple years ago and the transmission shop guy said to use Mercon in it.

Oops, Yes, the very first thing to check. :o
Would Park be suitable as well as Neutral?

(in the hope that Park is a safer option when the engine is running without someone sitting behind the...

Re: 1957 Fairlane 500 automatic

The procedure for adjusting the throttle valve / kick down rod is illustrated on page 2-89 of a '57 shop manual.
An important part to not skip is adding approx three additional turns of length to...

Re: 1957 Fairlane 500 automatic

Has it been getting gradually worse or did the noise just start? Any recent work under the hood before the problem started?
Was anything done with the throttle valve / kick down rod adjustment?

Re: '57 Ford Went Off the Road Killing Driver Highway 74 2 Days Ago

I saw some info a while back on an aftermarket seat-belt supplier's website when considering changing the lap belt setup in my red '55 to include shoulder belts, but baby t-birds have no real B...

Re: What year is my engine is???

Nope, haven't seen it. I don't get to many other 'car' events. Usually just our monthly T-Bird club outings until this virus thing happened and stopped that. My wife isn't well and has to stay close...

Re: What year is my engine is???

All the engine block casting numbers have "6015" in the middle. The prefix and suffix are what changes.

The casting numbers are often hard to read. The casting itself can be lumpy & unclear, then...

Re: What year is my engine is???

'62 ? Check the date code on the block to know for sure. (see reply # 6 above)

312 ? ..Not very likely but it isn't impossible. "Some 312 replacement blocks were C2AE-6015C"
Quote from this...

Re: What year is my engine is???

The spin-on oil filter on the block was an add-on adapter thru '64. The bare blocks were not re-cast / re-machined to mount the new different (spin-on) oil filter.

C2AE is a '62 thru '64 block. C...

Re: What year is my engine is???

In 1956 "P" in the first position of the serial number is the code letter for a 312.
"M" is the code letter for a 292.

Re: paint code YE3

Re: paint code YE3

Re: paint code YE3

Is this for your '56 Crown Vic.?

A two letter paint code means two colors of paint. I think the '3' could/would mean it was something more than a standard top/bottom two-tone paint job, more...

Re: Shock id help for my 56 ford fairlane

The lower shock mount photo and classictbird(dot)com link to it in post 4 is a good current link. Just pricey.
