Re: XM Radio On 6 Volts Positive?

some of the older/external add-on XM radio's were 5 volt powered and there are aftermarket USB -> 5volt power input cables availble at amazon. I know there was also a vendor selling 6 volt AM...

Re: gen to alt

G.M.'s solution looks slick and if I had the know-how that's what I would do. Sadly I don't have his know how and the people in my Lincoln club warned me I didn't want to go 12v or Negative ground...

Re: Dingman Auction

Welcome to club riff-raff, we have t-shirts. (Not matching or anything, but good enough to get past that no-shoes no-shirt sign.)

Re: Dingman Auction

Yep, at least that's how I read it when I got partway through the registration. Really a negligible amount when you consider how much many of the items sold for, but money I could better spend...

Re: Dingman Auction

I was watching some of the Lincoln items in the collection, and even looked into bidding but I'm just too cheap to spend $150 just to be outbid by someone else (and looking at the final sale price on...

I'm pretty certain that will the last time the Lincoln distributor you rebuilt for me will reach that high an RPM. :D

Re: 49 3 speed transmission?

Glad I scrolled all the way to the bottom of the page, I was just about to grab my camera and crawl under my car. Not that I don't need to crawl under it still, I just don't need to bother with the...

Re: Anti-Seize Compound Payback Years later

I've pulled the pumps on my V-12 and I could not remember this "hidden" bolt you all are talking about so I googled some images of the V-8 pump. Wow... that was an interesting design decision, glad...

Re: Clock for a 52-53 Mercury

I had the clock for my '47 Lincoln gone through last year by David Lindquist (http://magicdave.com/autoclock/home.htm). It's the original 6volt electric winding/mechanical setup. David cleaned he...

Re: Right era, wrong type of transportation

Thanks for the photos and discussion. I've always been fascinated by the B-24, mostly because my Grand Uncle (that's a thing right? My grandfather's brother.) Piloted and was KIA'd flying one in the...

Re: Silt in the carb bowl..would like to know how to eliminate or decrease

Just to follow up on Terry's comment, the part number for the in-bowl filter is FRAM - CG3 Fuel Filter or NAPA 3039 (at least that's what I have in my notes.)

Re: Last time out this year

I know I'm spoiled here in the california sunshine but I'd like to think if there was snow I'd still drive in it. It'd be nice to find out how well the heated seats work.

Re: 46 Lincoln starter slow cranking

Most of the advise I can give has already been shared. But I'll just say what I have done on my V-12 even though it might sound repetitive. I've had the starter gone through at a reputable local...

Re: Hydraulic brakes

If you're looking for a shop, I can't say enough good things about C.H. Topping in Long Beach. I had them change the master cylinder and split the system on my Lincoln a few months back. Very...

Re: 6 Volt Led Bulbs:

I picked up a red LED bulb for the single brake light on my '47 lincoln, mostly because I was having a heck of a time tracking down a replacement lens within wife-approved budget. I would say it was...

Re: wheel cyl kits and Master cyl kits

I can't speak with confidence for your Ford, but wheel cylinder rebuild kits were among the few things for my '47 Lincoln I was able to pick up at my local NAPA auto-parts.

Re: Odd Ford Distributor

When I saw this photo I just about said "I think I saw one like that in a cabinet at the early ford store once" I guess Bill hasn't found a taker for it yet.

Re: Gas Tank swap? 1953 tank in a 1950 Pickup?

I previously owned a '49 and the owner before me had put the tank from a Mustang-II between the rails and it fit nicely --- unfortunately he also some other things pretty mickey mousey so I ended up...

Re: Brake rod supports-big truck

Re: Brake Fluid ?

Only because my vehicle had be stored for an extended period with dot-3 I opted to go DOT-5 when I was in the process of replacing pretty much everything just so I wouldn't need to go through that...
