Re: Grease fitting size for 1937 ford spindles

Me too, The hex/wrench size on a 1/4-28 is 5/16 not much larger than the ball .On an 1/8" pipe the wrench size is 7/16 much larger than the ball.

Re: Grease fitting size for 1937 ford spindles

I,m going to have to disagree with you 1/4-28 is .250 in diameter, 1/8 pipe is close to .400 in diameter. They are nowhere close.
1/8 pipe and 3/8-24 are the one that are close.
I just...

Re: Fumes in the cabin

Check to see if the baffle tube is in place under the fuel pump stand. When they are left out you will get a lot of smoke out of the oil filler.
When left out it defeats the ventilation system.

Re: Connecting Rod (Insert) Question for rebuild

The wrist pin does rotate in the piston as well as the rod, that is why they are called " Full Floating". As the piston expands the pin bore gets larger not smaller.
As for wearing on the aluminum...

Re: Connecting Rod (Insert) Question for rebuild

The wrist pins are called full floating pins because they move/rotate in both the rod and the piston.

True, But that applies to all phases of restorations and mechanics.
Part of the fun of having a Model A is being able to do your own work.

28/29 is different than 30/31 You can check for straightness with a tape measure and a long straight edge or long level [ 8']or a string line.
