Re: speedo gear-in tranny

Pretty sure I remember having to bolt a short strap from the flex plate to a bolt hole on the back of the block to keep the crank from turning, to be able to hit the torque spec.

If you work thru...

Re: speedo gear-in tranny

Place the flex plate on the crankshaft flange and line up the 6 bolt holes, one of them is slightly offset for proper alignment. Add the 3 spacer rings and 6 bolts just snug.

Check that the 6 flex...

Re: Bird fan shroud modification

Yes it will bolt on but,
on a truck or 'full-sized' passenger car the various... fan, water pump and power steering pulleys would need to have their belt alignment checked or changed to match the...

Re: Sensor cable to brake backplate - 2007 F150?

Don't forget the large dents in two fenders, bodywork, paint materials & labor... along with the front and rear bumpers which aren't inexpensive.

They may not be necessary for driving but they'd...

Re: Sensor cable to brake backplate - 2007 F150?

Any insurance on the truck?
While it's generally true that anything can be fixed, is it worth the trouble?
Considering the amount of visible damage to the outside of the truck, what...

Re: My 56 Thunderbird transmission Leaks?

A few transmission mechanics know how to disassemble and reassemble it in place without pulling the engine. It is possible but not overly easy.
If you have the big red CTCI Restoration Manual the...

Re: California pcv ??

The PVC valve is a friction fit into the grommet in the valley pan.
The top of the curved hose plugs into the spacer plate or carburetor.

More than one T-Bird parts supplier may sell these. You...

Re: 55 mercury steering box

IF the '55 Ford steering box will fit, and it matters to you... the box from a *late* '56 (or '57 ?) might also fit and would be an upgraded version.
I think Ford changed the earlier '2 tooth'...

If your '56 truck has its original Loadomatic distributor don't forget to replace it with a '57+ version.

Re: Highway speed vibration ('57 Thunderbird)

This is apparently a fairly common problem from that tire manufacturer. Even when they're new, poor quality control and their customer service can be lacking as well.

Re: 1955 Ford Fairlane Automatic Question.

Find the Neutral Safety Switch and see if you can adjust its position in relation to the shift linkage movement.

There may also be worn bushings in parts of the original '55 shift linkage.

Re: front 57 wagon sway bar install

You won't need the swaybar...
