Re: Speedometer error

Mine is off too. Speedometer can say 40; School zone radar signs say one thing, my wife driving behind me says another thing and GPS says another. It's all kind of relative. Do I really care...

Re: Coil problem?

With 6v on both sides of the coil when points are closed, the issue is not the coil.

The issue has to be

(a) the points aren't really closed;
(b) the wire between the upper and lower...

Re: Wiper motor cover

I am pretty sure nothing on the Model A was bare brass. I seem to recall that the judging standards say black.

Re: King Pin Retaining Bolts

Even with normal installation, I have had to hammer on them to get them out. Be sure to put the domed nut on the bolt a good distance and beat on the domed nut so you don't screw up the threads on...

Re: Rear backing plate/brake installation Les Andrews instructions

I resisted removing the rear radius rods, but between getting the e-brake return spring on its lever and then getting the whole assembly back on, I came to the conclusion that removing the radius...

Re: Checking 6 volt neg ground output with multi meter

Make sure spark advance lever is fully retarded when starting. Otherwise it will crank slow and is also hard on the engine.

Re: Any electronic experts out there

Dang, PalAl, you are going to be into this a bloody fortune by the time you are done reinventing the electrical system. Maybe the turn signal/running lights just aren't engineered with the noisy...

Re: Model A Wheel Colors company

Their 206 area code puts them in the core Puget Sound area around Seattle. Mukilteo probably does have a 206 area code. Interesting that their web site does not include their address in either the...

Re: odd rear brake drum 30 coupe

It looks like the part that is still on the axle is the hub. The hub should be actually attached to the drum by swedging the studs to the hub and drum. Not a wonder that a stud is missing if they...

Re: 12v wiring diagram

No wires change what so ever. Aren’t we verging on over thinking this?

Re: Passenger door opens while driving '30 A

When ever I give anyone a ride in the front seat, I make it a point to tell them that handle on the door isn't for holding onto when I go around corners because it's purpose is to open the doors. I...

Re: head liners

I just installed my headliner from Classtique (classtique.com) Call and talk to Mike. They do have a backlog due to Lebaron Bonney (sp?) shuttering.

Re: Low braking phenomena

Sounds like something in the linkage is catching on something occasionally. Maybe the pedal shaft or the pedal to cross shaft linkage. Check for tight clearances.

Re: Does an alternator need oiled?

Good question. My alternator does not have any oiling points and none of of the several cars that I have owned in the last 40+ years with an alternator have ever needed oiling, so I would say no. I...

Re: Sealed beam headlights

I have since converted back to a more stock headlight, but when I got the car it had sealed beam. I bought two sealed beans on Amazon pretty reasonably. Also, While your local NAPA, O'Reily's,...

Re: No electricity. No crank. No horn

Maybe there is a hidden disconnect switch. The starter should crank when you press the starter foot switch. Also, when you get it running, be aware that the stock Model A has positive ground,...

Werner, that is one beautiful car! Being a roadster, you are just in time for the summer weather. First day of summer according to the calendar is next week-end.

Re: 29 Tudor charging system question

A person can easily run the car without one. A jumper across the two posts on the junction box will bypass the ammeter and get you on your way.

I recently changed to a HC head and had the hood, the hood rods and the upper radiator hose off. I took the water pump off and back on, both times with the head on the engine. In both cases, I did...

Thumbs up Re: More kudos to Bert's Model A Center

2X on Mr. Daut's comments. I had a similar situation a couple years ago where Steve stepped in between a problem I was having with something provided by a high end vendor and shipped by Bert's. ...
