56 Mercury 312 canister
My ‘56 has a canister toward the front of the block, where the breather pipe is…driver side.
What is it ?

Not using stats.... Got the ones that Skip recommended, but took them out after initial run heated up the same way.
(Skip recommended them, and said they opened up larger than other stats,...

I did the laser thermometer thing yesterday... Fairly warm day, and temp gauge said 200.
Immediately did the laser on the head water neck, the chrome radiator hose tubes, the top...

Radiator is 7 row built by Custom Auto Radiator in NJ. Bought it new. Supposed to be high efficiency. Not that old, or should say, not that many miles on it. Have not tested for exhaust...

Laser thermometer shows cooler on outside of engine, but not sure that translates to internal temp.

Tested thermostats in a pan on the stove... Opened properly.
At highway speed, airflow should replace fan flow...

Have a frustrating cooling issue - 276 ci Walt Dupont 8BA block, Navarro early heads (center hose), 20 quart Custom Auto radiator (7 row), 2000cfm fan. Had a problem with temp going quickly to 220...

Yes, 41... there is a hole in the front of the 8BA block (on both sides) that has to be plugged when using the early heads.... have done that...

Head Gasket question...
Have an 8BA block, and Navarro 59AB heads...
Got Best GraphTite head gaskets... The coolant holes in the gasket are only about 1/4", while the head and block are approx. 1/2" and 3/4" (?)
Shouldn't...

My dipstick, errrr...the CAR'S dipstick measures 13 5/8", top washer to Full mark, and the pan tube measures 7 1/2" to the pan end flange.
This combination would be..... ??
