Re: 41 fire truck

It may be the exact opposite, expavr. Could be used to keep the engine from over heating when the fire engine is stationary for long periods pumping at a fire. This is common on modern fire equipment...

Re: 1961 Fords - Where have they all gone?

Back in the early '70s my neighbor had a '61 two door but not a Starliner. He had raced it in New York. He moved to Calif. and got married. Took the 406 out of it and replaced it with a 352 but kept...

Re: 1940 - 41 Truck fender question

Heck, I'm in the same boat with my '41. The rear fenders have just about the life beat out of them but I can't afford that kind of coin for replacement steel fenders yet. I'm going to use glass...

Re: 1946 Convertible top Alignment

Thanks. The car actually belongs to the wife. The plane is a Stearman built around '41 or '42 if I remember correctly. We also have a '41 pickup and a '54 Club Coupe.

Haven't put the top on yet as...

Re: 1946 Convertible top Alignment

Just a thought, how well do the door gaps fit the body? Are the body mounts in good shape or do they need replaced. I need a new top on our '47 convertible but the body mounts need replaced and the...

Re: Ford Australia's Better Idea

You should ask my wife that question. I've never heard such profanity come out of a woman's mouth after she caught her head on the corner of our 47' convertible. Twice!

Re: Late Crown Vic and 4.6L into 1970's Pickup

Also know of a guy who put a '61 Unibody on a Merc Marauder chassis. It fit pretty well but had problems with the front end being too wide. He had interference problems with the wheel wells. Had to...

Re: Late Crown Vic and 4.6L into 1970's Pickup

I did this to a 62 F-100 Unibody. I put a 4.6 and 4R70W OD. It fits in there very well. Plenty of room. The truck had a Fatman Mustang front suspension. I did have to change the oil pan and pick up...

Re: Vintage plate vendors in the U.S.

Well, when I registered my '47 Super Deluxe Conv. ; it had yellow on black plates from 1963. Had to jump through some hoops but had the documentation that the plates had been on the car since the...

Re: Rear bow 48 convertible

I also used Oak Bows from PA. I thought they were well built. Bought both header bow and rear bow for the '47 convertible. They were about half the cost of others.

Re: Info on sound deadening.

Maybe because TV shows are getting it for free for mentioning it during the program. Prime time TV ads are probably pretty pricy. Just sayin.

Re: Went to a swap meet today

The 54's were just known as Victorias, not sure about the 53's. Crown Vics were 55's, 56's.

Re: engine remove 1948 flathead

We put the engine/trans combo back in my '47 convertible as a unit. It wasn't too difficult at all, a little maneuvering and wiggling got it done. We removed it as a unit also.

Re: message from Mr Cochran, maybe

Just a teaser. I'm starting to drool. I did find time to tune-up my O.T. daily driver, changed the oil and filter, even washed it. Washed my Bride's car too. Jeez, all on Mothers Day.
