Ring ridge reamer might be good to start with.
If not a big ridge, the hone might take care of it, otherwise you'll be there forever and increase the cylinder taper to boot.

The original setup DOES have a lot of "give." Maybe even enough to allow one to put a rubber ball on it and get the nuts over the threaded posts - maybe even with springs?

And on the Model A, a lot less chance of catching it. As in no oil pump pressure indication.
One positive check would be to remove the side oil pipe and see if oil leaks out.
