Thumbs up Re: 272 oiling issues

Thanks to all for the excellent help and advice. I rotated the engine 90 degrees, and I have oil everywhere. I was astonished. Thanks again.

Re: 272 oiling issues

It does get confusing. I used the data charts from Y blocksforever. All the data points to a 272, which was available, according to the info in the charts. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: 272 oiling issues

Truck is a 55. Motor supposed to be original..numbers all point to a 272, but the dipstick is up front so maybe from a car. The pan is rear sump, and the dipstick looks like it has been shortened.

272 oiling issues

I am aware of the top end oiling problems on the 272, however, I am stumped. I removed the distributor from my engine to manually spin the oil pump, and check the oiling. Engine is in the truck. I...

Re: 53 Ranchwagon flathead motor mounts

Just an update..I called MAC's today. Explained my issue. They told me that the remanufactured mounts are all metric. I'm sorry could you repeat that? Anyway, I told them to at least put a note...

Re: 53 Ranchwagon flathead motor mounts

FYI..I did verify today that the mount studs are indeed metric at 10 x 1.25. That has to be #12 on list. Thou shalt not use metric hardware on a flatty!!

Re: 53 Ranchwagon flathead motor mounts

The spacing of the holes is slightly off, and the threads of the studs seems to be metric, although I find that hard to believe. I planned on installing the mounts on the engine first, because the...

Re: 53 Ranchwagon flathead motor mounts

My old mounts were toast. The new mounts have a U shape to them. Top part of the U has holes, and bottom part has the studs that go thru the frame. A standard nut won't go smoothly onto the stud. ...

53 Ranchwagon flathead motor mounts

Having a problem with my new motor mounts from MACS. First of all, the holes in the mounts don't quite line up with the holes in the water pumps. I guess I will open the holes up to make them work....

Re: 53 Ranchwagon Throwout Bearing

So, come to find out the clutch kit advertised to fit the 53 ford is not quite accurate. The throwout bearing will work, but not the hub. This does me no good, because I also need the hub. I guess...

Re: Differential lubrication

Yes..I guess I am comparing it to the fill plug on the drop out diff. Seems like that one is about centered on the axle tubes.

Differential lubrication

Reinstalling the diff cover on my 53 Ranchwagon. Maybe a spicer 41, not sure. It has the metal cover with the fill plug on the back. I noticed that the fill plug seems very low on the cover. I...
