mike - thanks for that list. Starting to think I might be better off with the original plan of just having it taken somewhere and have a professional work on it. problem is it is one of four cars...

i put a few drops of marvel mystery oil in each cylinder while i had the plugs out

thanks there was some gas dripping out after trying so I don't think it's gas. going to try the tip with the distributor wire and see if there is spark

to be clear right (clockwise) is open; left (counter clockwise) is close?

i thought that too. what do you mean by "close". i ask because as i mentioned it seems to turn multiple times in either direction, i kept turning because i expected it to "stop" when it was closed....

Trying to revive my Dad's 31 Sedan that has been in the garage for over 25 years. I have in no particular order

hand cranked engine to make sure it wasn't seized
Changed the plugs
cleaned the...
