Post Re: T85 transmission, T86 differences

FORD changed cable design in 1957. To use the 57 trans, you will need to (or have done) modify the cable housing trans end. There are shops that specialize in this.

Someone posted here a later...

Post Re: T85 transmission, T86 differences

OK...

Everything I have found so far points to BW only. I have not come across any FORD designed trans (1954-1959).

BW 259 - LD
BW T-86 - MD
BW T-85 - HD
All available w/ OD

Even the...

Post Re: 55 Ford Fairlane hinge pin

Yeah, FORD did not catalog bushings until the 1957 model year. The 55/56 took just pins as the actual bushing was a part of the hinge arm.

If they (bushings) are worn, you will most likely have to...

Unhappy Re: offy intake manifolds

Jim,

I do not believe the manifolds got ID NOS. Most of what you read says no nos and then again, I have seen photos with a PN on the bottom..

You would need to find old OFFY cataloging or a...

Post Re: Interesting customized Falcon.

This car appears (to me) as a 68 MONTEGO FRT and a 71 TORINO Fastback rear.

Re: Interesting customized Falcon.

What strikes me is how FORD of AU used the 351C whereas we used the 302/5.0L-5.8L. They also had a 302C. Lost of desirable engine parts there. Take-off heads were shipped in containers for re-sale.

Cool Re: T85 transmission, T86 differences

Here is the problem ...

FORD does not give an an ID Chart for 50's transmission usage (49/59 MPC) as it does in the subsequent MPC (1960-1964) so as to actually derive correct service parts. If an...

Post Re: Erratic Water Temps in '56 Y block

Just so you know -

That extension tube purpose is to draw coolant from the bottom of the intake coolant crossover. It allows for less air bubble pickup which may air-lock the heater core.

There...

Thumbs up Re: Erratic Water Temps in '56 Y block

Good idea here. Heat soak amount.

The FYB had the coolant temp sensor located in the wrong spot as it sees only coolant temp coming out of only one bank of cylinder barrels. It does not see the...

Question Re: engine color question

GOLD engine color, but no BL rockers covers I believe. The 55 MERC used two HP rating 292's. Let me go back on this.

You are trying to duplicate the looks of a 55/56 MERC install correct? I...

Question Re: Overdrive solenoids

It seems to me that one would follow the DIAGNOSTIC SEQUENCE in the correct year SHOP MANUAL rather than take hit-or-miss pot shots at it.
