I had a very similar noise an it turned out to be a broken piston. I didn't know it was broke till I pulled the piston completely out. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Oil Pump

I need some help identifying this oil pump. it came out of a 46 block. I would like to know is a 50# or 80#. I want to rebuild it but don't know what kit to order.

Ed, I just did the same trade with the flywheel. 36 flywheel to a 46 engine and it works just fine.

35/early 36 Engine

Not sure of the year believe it to be a 35 or 36 engine. The main studs measure 3 inches center to center which would make it a babbitt engine. It ran a year ago when I took it out and still turns...

Hello, I'm new to the forum been reading it for awhile and gained lots of useful info. My question is how much oil to fill a 46' fan Hub. I can't seem to find anywhere what the capacitiy is.
