Re: Back from hiatus, looking for input, again

I went through Mart's thread again on his '33, wow, great stuff. I also went for a search to find info from someone who has done a 8B into an early V8 and didn't have much luck. Anyone have links...

Re: Back from hiatus, looking for input, again

I'm back again. And, not too much further than where I left off! Except... I bought a running engine from a '51 F5 truck. I've been looking for the right one, and I think this is it. Hated to see...

Re: Back from hiatus, looking for input, again

Thanks, again, for the input. Mart, your pictures and descriptions are inspirational, thanks. I am going to keep looking for another engine to put on the car. I have no intentions of ever selling...

Re: Back from hiatus, looking for input, again

Thanks for the info. I'm understanding there to be an adapter kit for the later flathead motors into the earlier chassis/driveline, which I need to research. I also found a '52 that's in a running...

Re: Back from hiatus, looking for input, again

Thanks for the input. I've pretty much gave up on the idea of stripping out the ranchero. It actually is a pretty decent bodied truck, the engine is not original, obviously, nor the tranny. That...

Smile Back from hiatus, looking for input, again

Hi everyone. I know, I know.... I was here for a while then dropped out about a year ago, or so. I had some other things going on, let's say.

Now, I'm back in and looking for some help, if you...

Re: 34 Vicky flathead update

I can't seem to get the head studs to break loose, at all. Been soaking in Kroil for 24 hr periods, tapping with a hammer, then trying to remove, and they aren't budging. The last thing I want to...

Re: 34 Vicky flathead update

I picked up the plugs from the local John Deere shop. I used my shop vac to pull out a lot of the junk in the top of the water jackets, but plan to get a long flexible wire brush to help get some of...

Re: 34 Vicky flathead update

Here's a question: Is anyone aware of 34 Victoria being produced with a steel top, originally? Do you think I should be able to get this information from the Early Ford V8 1933 to 1934 book that...

Re: 34 Vicky flathead update

I appreciate the information, David J and FL&WVMike. It's a little bit of a struggle for me on this project, trying to figure out the best way to proceed. I've had experiences with other projects...

Re: 34 Vicky flathead update

Thanks for the info. Are the four plugs removed with a drill and sheet metal screw, like a freeze plug? Sorry to sound really dumb, but I don't have my Early Ford V8 book ordered yet. Thanks,...

Re: 34 Vicky flathead update

The pan has a layer of sludge in it that won't be too bad to clean out. The valley below the intake is another story. It is really sludged pretty good. All of the valves and springs appear to be...

Re: 34 Vicky flathead update

I haven't gotten to the transmission yet, plan to get into that once I know more about the motor. I picked up a complete front axle set up that I want to install, since the king pins are worn pretty...

34 Vicky flathead update

I removed the pan today to take a closer look inside. I plan to take the advice and order the book from Early Ford V8 next week to get a better idea of the markings.
We've had this car since 1979...

Re: '34 Vicky checking in

I have a chance to give a little update, if you're interested. The LH head has two cast-in number sets on it. The main part number if 68-6050B, which I have found was aftermarket, 90Hp, for domed...

Re: Engine block I.D. pictures

Thanks for the pictures. It helps me understand more the correctness of the motor with the car I have. It's all pointing toward being the right block so far, according to the great information on...

Re: '34 Vicky checking in

I finally got the RH head off this afternoon. It was much harder than the LH, stuck on the front studs, for the most part. It is a different picture on this side. Now the story is coming together...
