Re: Pulled over by the Police!

About 18 months ago they reduced the speed limit on all my main roads in France to 80 kmh, 50 mph. For the first time I could exceed the national speed limit in my A. At about the same time I was...

Re: Pulled over by the Police!

A lovely car, they are a fairly common sight around here if course but every time I think about getting a friend for my Model A that’s what is at the top of the list.

I know your home area really...

Re: Pulled over by the Police!

I live in rural France, a world away from the America I see on television. Being English I still find it strange that the police here carry guns, that is something you never saw when I lived on the...

Pulled over by the Police!

I was on my way to a car meet yesterday evening when I was pulled over by the Gendarmes. I got out of the car with all my documents but he said , no, you don’t need those, this is personal. He only...

Re: Seat belts - to be or not to be?

If you want seat belts and safety equipment buy a modern car. It’s much safer to drive a Model A without seat belts knowing that you are vulnerable than to drive with Mickey Mouse seatbelts thinking...

Re: Different take on seat belts

That’s a great idea, I might wear my full face motorcycle helmet in my A, that would provide much more crash protection than any seat belt.

Re: Different take on seat belts

I really suggest that you watch some slow motion film of a frontal impact. A driver or passenger in a Model A is going to suffer serious head injuries whatever their head makes contact with and make...

Re: When to shut off fuel

I turn the fuel off after I’ve switched off the ignition to stop the engine. It’s part of my shutdown routine, nothing deeper.

Re: Different take on seat belts

There’s a lot of hot air being spouted. My real concern is that some people believe that fitting seatbelts can only be good and expect them to act like the combined safety features of modern cars....

Re: Sellers throwing away good parts

It sounds as though your pricing was wrong. Items for sale are only worth what buyers are prepared to pay. As every person who looked at your parts thought that they were overprice that suggests that...

Re: Enjoying the French sunshine.

I did nothing different. The first photos were taken on a DSLR the second lot on an iPhone.

Re: Different take on seat belts

It’s a personal decision but I would never consider wearing an after market seatbelt in a Model A or any other old car with a separate chassis and body. At best wearing seat belts in a Model A gives...

Enjoying the French sunshine.

I enjoyed a good day out yesterday, a hundred mile round trip in my Sport Coupe in the beautiful summer sunshine with lunch at one of my favourite restaurants.

Re: Radiator cap vs Quail vs Motometer?????

And that has got to be the number one reason for being glad that I don’t live in America. Nutters with guns who believe that they solve problems. Looking from the outside it really is bizarre.

Re: Why do you own a Model A?

I wanted a prewar car and the Model A fits on two counts. It's affordable and the availability of spare and replacement parts is a deal breaker.
The sound of the Model A engine might be music to...

Re: Not showing our cars anymore?

Many of the cars that catch my attention at shows and rallies are cars that I have never had a connection with, there is just something about them that draws me in to have a closer look and learn...

Re: Remparts Angouleme Rallye International

Thanks for the link Rene. Buying from the UK isn't too bad at the moment as the pound is so weak against the Euro but I'll look into the Dutch sites. It's a country I know well, my grandfather lived...

Re: Remparts Angouleme Rallye International

A attempted joke or sarcasm? It was on the trailer for practical reasons. It would have been a two hour drive in the dark to get to the start. That's impossible for two reasons the most important...

Re: Remparts Angouleme Rallye International

When we arrived at the chateau for lunch we were greeted by a display consisting of three period planes. There were a couple of monoplanes and a biplane. The one in the photograph was seriously low,...

Re: Remparts Angouleme Rallye International

A few memories of a great day out. The Model A ran beautifully all day.
