Re: 1940 Windshield Seal

NO! Don't go to Drake for ANY rubber. It's all from offshore. Order from Carpenter. He makes all his own rubber and it far better than Drake's. Especially nice windshield seals for the '40.

Re: LED shop light follow-up

A waste of money to replace old florescent fixtures. Costco has drop in 4 ft. tubes that work perfect. Can't see why you need PVC. Just use Romex and tack it neatly if you need to.

Re: Paul Bradley Floors

He still has dies. If he is not going to continue, maybe he would sell the business. Would be a great investment for the right person.

Re: disc brakes & distributor

If you want to save a few bucks, buy your backing plates at Speedway and if you want the fancy drums, get those from MT but the cheaper Speedway drums are fine too. Made offshore however like 95% of...

Re: Paul Bradley Floors

Paul's dies are out there somewhere. Somebody should look him up and make an offer on them. We all know there is a demand. He has a very large inventory of various dies. According to his link, he...

Re: Paul Bradley Floors

These are no where near the quality of Bradley's. Also they don't fit the wagon at all. If you are going to use Drake pans, you would be better to invest in sheet metal rollers and make your own. ...

Re: disc brakes & distributor

I have had zero problems with my Speedway drums. No rubbing or anything . Those MT drums are pretty though. How about the Buick finned ones from Speedway? The backing plates and brake linings...

Re: Distributor vacuum brake question

Are you saying, just back off the vacuum brake totally and let the breaker plate run without a brake?

Re: disc brakes & distributor

Too late. I got all my brakes and drums from Speedway over a year ago. No problem except those old Lockheed ones on the back.

Re: disc brakes & distributor

Great post above. I am running the Bendix setup in front and stock Lockheed on the rear as you mention. I am not totally happy with the Lockheeds though because I could never figure out how to...

Re: Barrett Jackson

In most cases, you won't make money doing this either because it costs too much to build. Nice original muscle cars are bring bigger dollars like Mopars, Cobras, Corvettes and Mustang big block...

Re: Barrett Jackson

Especially the younger crowd is more in to performance cars. Old Fords are not the hot ticket anymore unless they are "built". It's only the old guys like some of us.

Re: Why do Flathead V8 Blocks Crack?

The problem is exhaust gas is routed up and then does a u turn out the side of the block. The problem is the head functions are in the block instead of the head itself. Think about all the heads on...

Re: What Electric Pump do you recommend?

I ordered an Airtex from E Bay and they said they couldn't ship to CA because of some dumb law. Amazon said the same when I tried to order from them. Rock Auto was a go though. Already on its way,...

Re: 40 Heater recore??

You don't want to get one from backorder Bob. It would end up being Chinese. Better to get original re-cored.

Put the pan on without the gasket. Strike the bottom of the pan to adjust pickup. Now put the gasket in. Perfect clearance.
