Re: Starter removal on a 55- HELP

Re: Low compression in one cylinder
I had a 55 ford yblock with the exact same issue as you back in my college days, late 60s, 7 cylinders with 155-160 psi and one at about 90. I had bought the car from an older gentleman who had...

I’ve got an overdrive transmission in my shop with 16 spline out put shaft. Don’t know what year or what it came out of. Got severa other o/d in my shop and I’m guessing they are 16 also. These are...

Re: '59 Ford generator
There were 3 generators that were available 30, 35 & 40 amps. To check the out puts one would have to check the model number.

Re: how to test ign/light switch
Use an ohmn meter, attach one lead to the input post and the other to the output post and check for continuity when you activate the switch

Re: carb spacer
Use to make them out of red oak or ash back in the day at high school shop class. The spacers worked well and don’t recall ever having a problem with them. Also use to make adapter plates to mount...

Re: 54 Merc stumbles from a dead stop
Check your accelerator pump in the carb , should be a squirt of gas coming out of the nozzle in the Venturi when you press the gas pedal as you take off from a stop.

Re: F10 champion plugs
Thanks for the information, I’ve got 9 boxes of new F10s that I guess would be suitable for a hippo Yblock if someone would be interested in them.

Re: F10 champion plugs
Well I’m assuming they aren’t worth much so I guess I’ll try a set in my 292 and see how it goes. They have been sitting in my shop for 40-50yrs and don’t remember where I got them from

Re: F10 champion plugs
Wonder when Champion stopped manufacturing the F10 and was it replaced by a new plug. Do new F10s have antique value?

Re: Highway speed vibration ('57 Thunderbird)
Yup, got an old school Bada M-60 bubble balancer, circa 1960s, and balanced all four drums, all of them were out of balance. One thing about a bubble balancer is gravity don’t lie.

f10 is on the cold end of the scale and F14Y, 870 is on the high end. f10s were used on some Ford engines in the mid 50s. Yes, higher the number hotter the plug for Champion. I have nine boxes of new...
