Re: Brake Booster ID

That was my worry, that the lever geometry may be crummy and that's why whomever put a booster on it in the past.

I am not 100% sure the booster is bad.

- My motor idles and runs poorly...

Re: Brake Booster ID

This may be a stupid question but if I disconnect the vacuum line from the booster and drill a hole perhaps on the pedal side of the booster to keep the pedal from getting hard would that approximate...

Re: Brake Booster ID

Thanks for the help. I was thinking about removing it to simplify things but wasn't sure how well it would work.

If I do remove it I'll have to learn to bend brake tubing, then I may as...

Brake Booster ID

My A came with hydraulic brakes. I believe I have a vacuum leak, car idles fast, motor wants to die if you give it gas or apply any load after starting it. Once you've driven a few miles then it...

Re: Help Identifying Brake Parts

Thanks for the tips.

Yea the master cylinder looks to have leaked in the past but it hasn't the last year I've owned it. Previous owner must have fixed it. Plenty of other leaks to keep me...

Help Identifying Brake Parts

Hi All,

My A has had several upgrades and I'm trying to determine what the parts are. My Brakes have been converted to hydraulic, how do I identify what system I have?

The front hubs came...

Re: Rebuilding Fuel Valve Question

I like the modern shutoff inline idea. Think I'll go look for one after work.

Re: Rebuilding Fuel Valve Question

Thanks I've seen that one it's decent. I bought a new valve from Snyders. It's the same as the one on my car with the O ring and spring, no packing. It leaks just like the one I already had, at...

Rebuilding Fuel Valve Question

I am rebuilding my fuel shutoff valve, it's not an original piece but a reproduction. I have the cone and body lapped together well enough I think but my question is on assembly. The rebuild kit...

Re: Oil Leak Worstning Quickly

It idles smooth and runs well as far as I can tell. The spark plugs all look the same, and looking into the cylinders they all look the same too for whatever that's worth. So I think all cylinders...

Re: Gas Blowing Out Exhaust

Re: Gas Blowing Out Exhaust

I originally started 2 threads one for the oil leak and one for the carb but its starting to look like its 2 symptoms of the same problem. Here is a link to the other thread just for thoroughness....

Re: Oil Leak Worstning Quickly

Can gas leak into the motor with the fuel shut off from the carburetor bowl? I don't know much about the carb. But that's the only thing I can think of.

It's a Stromberg 81 downdraft

Is a...

Re: Oil Leak Worstning Quickly

Last night I cranked the car over without pulling the choke or pressing the accelerator and like usual gas blew out the exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe junction. So I think that means the fuel is...

Re: How to remove Quail Radiator Cap

Thanks all for the advise. I'm pretty sure my quail is a reproduction. I'll take a look at it now that I have some better ideas and if still stumped post some pictures.

Thanks Again,
Steve

Thanks for all of the input. Looks like I have plenty of stuff to try out this weekend.

I don't think this oil leak is related to the steering gear because I let it leak dry this weekend before...

Oil Leak Worstning Quickly

Hello,

I got my car Memorial day weekend. The previous owner had it 3 years but drove it very little. It had a few leaks but they were a drip here and there, nothing much. I got the car home...

How to remove Quail Radiator Cap

This is a dumb question but how do you remove the quail radiator cap from the car. It was on my car when I got it. I assumed a quarter turn then lift off like a normal radiator cap but it didn't...

Re: New Rotor Issue

Thanks for the advice I noticed the contour was different too but I didn't know what correct was. Bending didn't get even close to the contacts so I've contacted Mikes to return it if practical.

New Rotor Issue

I bought a new rotor as a backup from Mikes. When I tried it out I was surprised to see the contact is about 1/8" too short. I tried it with 3 different distributor bodies and its way to short for...

Re: DynaBeads, yay or nay?

Tractors use various fluids. The usual favorite is calcium chloride, if your tubes leak any or you get a puncture you need to wash that stuff off ASAP or anything it gets on will be rusty within the...
