The ends of the distributor shaft and the camshaft are machined with an offset so that there is only one correct way to install the distributor.

I'd try to get the stock system working first, since there's no guarantee that converting to electronic will fix the problem(s). JMTCW.

FWIW, the listed shipping weights were 2710 for a standard coupe and 2606 for a deluxe coupe. Subtract 500 for engine and transmission?

The 1940 instructions say to adjust the clevis in the valve operating rod so that the lever depresses the plunger in the valve 1/8 to 1/4 inch when the clutch pedal is depressed to the floor.

Run a wire straight from the battery to the coil, and see if it starts, If so, the coil is weak and should be replaced. Many of us have our original style coils rebuilt by Skip Haney in FL.

I use No-Rosion and a sacrificial anode, just to be on the safe side.
