Charlie makes a good point, if you can run later style pumps and pullieys, you gain a couple of inches of generator room.

Yeah, I did hesitate when writing that, hence the "I'm not sure" bit.

I did go on to say feeler gauges are probably as good as anything for most non performance applications.

I'm not sure if Ford intended the pre 49 V8 points to be set with feeler gauges. I think they intended them to be set at a dealers on a setting fixture. That said, setting each pair to 15 thou will...

Never done it myself but a recent post described carefully drilling a hole through the steel hubcap, but not through the stainless. Then a blast of compressed air will blow the stainless part off.

I researched this, and the only way I could find to fit an overdrive trans into a 32 K member is to use a Volvo 4 spd + od box. I mocked it up. The overdrive would have to be assembled onto the box...

Then your car is a Ford 85HP V8 and the numbers fall in the 1939 range.

Could be one of the many reasons a carb runs rich. I'm only familiar with the 94 carbs. If you have a 94 you could check for:
Punctured float.
On seating needle valve.
Ruptured power valve....

^^ Ok if you have exposed plug connectors. If later type, fully covered plug caps, you wouldn't be able to do this.

If you do this, it is a good idea to touch the screwdriver to ground on the head...

Forget pickle forks. Sometimes you want to remove the joint and use it again without having the seals all buggered up.

Bleed screws are always loose. There should be no point in the bleeding process where you are sucking on the cylinder.

You should always close the bleeder before letting the pedal come up again....
