Re: 40 dlx. rear ash tray(s) - need a nice photo for my book. Please :)

When I had late-30s MoPars, I found some of the small parts are the same as Fords of the era - likely the same suppliers.

Re: A model T Ford in 1940

Neat pic. Looks like the owner might have been a student at St Xavier High School in Louisville KY. Wonder if "Cicero the Dope" was his nickname or the car's? Pretty good rendition of Dopey from...

Re: Cowl lights- AV8 Roadster

Problem is, nobody knows what hand signals mean anymore - they think you're waving or flipping them off. :D

Re: Cowl lights- AV8 Roadster

I'm with Tim Ayers, less is more...more or less :D

I don't think lights mounted on the cowl will look good. How about some small turn/parking lights on the front frame horns? Or maybe Guide...

Re: Where do I store stuff??

Lots of options:

1. Our 30 Sport Coupe had a recessed pan under the seat (the main seat, not the rumble) - just lift up the bottom cushion to access. I'd guess 5 window is the same. We lined...

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

That's what everybody says but effective property tax rate is pretty close to the national average. I don't think it's much worse than other states where I've lived. Insurance is what's...

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

Well since I am aware of the Florida use (not sales) tax requirement, it's good to know you weren't referring to me even though I'm a resident (evidently) and your post immediately followed mine. ...

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

Like I said, I understand all that but I disagree with the principle. And yeah, I realize my disagreement and $5 (plus tax :D) will get me a Starbucks.

As for your error-free collecting,...

Uh-huh. And we'll see how that works the next time I go to the DMV...I ain't holding my breath.

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

Yeah, I understand that. But it's inconsistent with in-person sales - that's why I disagree with the way it's assessed.

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

Dunno how all states do it, but I've lived in a couple where the tax was paid when the car was titled. Usually if the dealer handled the paperwork, they collected it and submitted it to the DMV. If...

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

I don't like paying sales tax online (or any where else for that matter) but I figured it would happen. But I object to it being charged based on the buyer's state. If I buy something in person in...

Re: Cup and saucer with Ford Model A on it

I think you may be right.

Do we know for sure the cup/saucer has a connection to a National Meet or club? And do we know that David Davis commissioned it or received it as a gift/award? ...

No help, but I'll commiserate. Our "yard find" 30 Sport Coupe sat for years. The previous owner's kids amused...

Looks like one guy with a submachine gun could disable it by targeting the tires.

Re: Cup and saucer with Ford Model A on it

Looks too straight to be a shift lever. Does kinda look like a combination wrench but I don't think it is - not sure what it is.

Re: Nice AAA

Nice truck but aren't those dual-duals kinda overkill for that tank? Maybe they're hauling heavy water! :D

Re: DId Model "A"s Come With a Spare Tire?

Yeah, pickups did not come with bumpers - wouldn't do much good anyway as the box sticks out farther than the bumper would.

That's pretty much how we did our 30 CCPU - turned out real nice. And yup, no chicken wire.

Re: VIN number 1930-A

And VIN and all its variants is not correct for the Model A. The Instruction Book uses "serial number" and says it is the engine number.
